Job Purpose

To  facilitate long term strategy development and provide company management with strategy updates.  Develops and implements a strategy definition and implementation  process in division, including measurements against long term strategy.  Provides management with corporate performance measures and competitor analysis and ensures functional alignment with Group  strategy.  Responsible for developing partnerships, strategic alliances and associations whilst representing the company's views effectively.

Job Responsibilities

Strategy Development and Execution



  • Develop and implement the Township Economy strategy in alignment with SME and BCB strategic objectives.

  • Identify growth opportunities, market trends and emerging needs within township economies.

  • Establish and execute a multi-year growth roadmap for township business banking.

  • Drive innovative solutions that support entrepreneurship, formalisation and economic participation.


Customer Value Proposition



  • Design and deliver market-leading value propositions for township enterprises.

  • Develop tailored solutions across transactional banking, payments, lending, deposits and beyond-banking services.

  • Ensure propositions address the diverse needs of informal, emerging and established township businesses.

  • Champion customer-centric innovation and continuous improvement.


Ecosystem and Partnership Development



  • Build and manage strategic partnerships with government, municipalities, fintechs, business associations, corporates, development finance institutions and community organisations.

  • Create and manage ecosystem platforms that unlock funding, business support, skills development and market access opportunities.

  • Establish strategic partnerships that accelerate customer acquisition and deepen engagement.


Commercial Growth and Business Performance



  • Drive growth in client acquisition, revenue, deposits, lending and merchant acquiring within the township economy portfolio.

  • Deliver agreed financial and non-financial performance targets.

  • Develop scalable growth models that enhance profitability while supporting financial inclusion.

  • Monitor performance and implement corrective actions to ensure achievement of business objectives.


Financial Inclusion and Access to Funding



  • Lead initiatives that improve access to formal banking services and finance for underserved businesses.

  • Support the development of alternative and data-driven lending solutions.

  • Drive adoption of digital banking and payment acceptance solutions.

  • Promote financial literacy and responsible borrowing practices.

Essential Qualifications - NQF Level

  • Matric / Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate
  • Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees

Preferred Qualification


  • Relevant postgraduate qualification in Business, Finance, Economics, Commerce, Development Finance or related field.

  • MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification preferred.


 

Minimum Experience Level


  • 8-10 years' senior management experience in banking, SME development, economic development, partnerships or business growth environments.

  • Proven experience developing and executing growth strategies.

  • Demonstrated success in building strategic partnerships and ecosystems.

  • Strong understanding of SME banking, entrepreneurship and township economy dynamics.

  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and complex strategic initiatives.
