Job Description - Head Guide

This well -known, world famous long standing 5 star lodge is looking for HEAD GUIDE. with strong leadership skills to be responsible for management, co -ordination, and supervision of all Field Guides from all Camps.

Requirements

The Head Ranger will guide guests on average no less than 70% of the average ranger, over the course of the year.

Â· Ensure efficient and effective product delivery by all rangers as defined by the company.

Â· Communicate daily with the General Manager regarding all camp guest and staff matters, daily operations, staff issues, vehicle issues and any shared

staff service requirements.

Â· Foster a warm, welcoming, and relaxing atmosphere for all guests to maximise guest enjoyment.

Â· Co -ordinate on -going training and unit standard maintenance of all rangers qualifications and certifications in conjunction with the Human Resources

Manager and General Manager.

Â· Assist in any emergency in the field or at any of the camps.

Â· Work with the Operations Manager on all ranger performance matters, safari policy implementation and standard operating procedures

Â· As a senior member of staff, the Head Ranger may be required to lead under these circumstances. This could include but is not limited to fires (in

camp and/or in the field), medical emergencies, passive and/or logistical support to the APU and active support of environmental activities.

Requirements

Â· NQF2 or Higher

Â· First Aid level 2 (Minimum)

Â· Handle and use of a Manually Operated Rifle, shotgun, and Carbine for Business Purposes – SAQA ID 123519

Â· NDT registered

Â· Lead trails qualification

Â· Valid Advanced Rifle Handling qualification is essential

Â· Minimum 5 years of “Big 5” African Safari guiding experience.

Â· Minimum 2 years of assistant head ranger or head ranger experience is essential

Â· English literacy level: Must have an excellent command of the English language including reading, writing, and speaking.

Â· Valid driver’s licence and PrDP.

Â· Computer literacy level: Use of Microsoft office (Word, Excel, and Outlook), internet
