Job Description - Head of Human Capital

We are looking for an ambitious Head of Human Capital.

The Head of Human Capital will oversee the HC department operations and management to ensure the organisation adheres to its policies and procedures. Some of the primary duties will include managing the HC department budget, communicating with management and executives, and collaborating with senior management to ensure the company’s human capital department adheres to HC regulations and laws.

The successful candidate needs to possess a combination of both exceptional strategic ability as well as operational excellence with strong organisational skills that know how to develop and incorporate processes that accelerate business growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and deliver briefings to executives
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to gain insight into the business objectives and strategies associated with employee relations, recruitment, retention, training programs, and company culture
  • Oversee or administer human capital programs including benefits, compensation, disciplinary issues, leave, the investigation into disputes, talent and performance management, morale and recognition, workplace health and safety, development, and training, etc.
  • Initiate and oversee the compliance of Workday and people data including the update of employee records
  • Follow and ensure adherence to relevant internal and legal and compliance frameworks such as SOX Compliance
  • Implement appropriate innovative measures for improving performance evaluations and employee engagement
  • Manage termination and discipline of employees according to the policies of the organisation
  • Develop and implement policies, training, and improve HC processes
  • Execute initiatives and create surveys to support and optimise human capital strategies and compliance
  • Monitor and ensure the company’s compliance local legal requirements across our African footprint, and suggest the best practices, modifications, and reviews to maintain adherence
  • Stay updated on the best regulatory measures, practices, and new technologies in human capital management, employment law, and talent management, and apply this in-depth knowledge to communicate any alterations in policies, practices, and resources to senior management
  • Oversee daily operations of the HC department
  • Develop and apply departmental budgets
  • Manage job satisfaction among employees

Key Requirements:

  • Advanced degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or similar relevant field
  • Proven work experience as an HC Executive, HC Manager or similar role
  • In-depth knowledge of Human Capital operations and legal regulations
  • Hands-on experience in all aspects of HC management
  • Comfortable working in a highly visible role
  • Impeccable communication, interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Strong analytical and project management skills
  • Expert stress management skills and ability to make important decisions under pressure
