Health & Safety Officer

The Health & Safety Officer
ensures a safe and healthy work environment for all staff, in alignment with
applicable legislation and Company policies. The role owns SHE compliance
nationally, including air freight security regulations, IOD administration,
inspections, training, wellness and driver behaviour, and drives major safety
projects such as ISO 45001 certification. It is also a trusted advisor to
management, identifying risks early and putting preventative measures in place.

•      National SHE compliance against legislation, Company policies, DOL, CAA, RTMC, ISO and SANS requirements.

•      Air freight regulatory compliance (Part 92 and Part
108), including weekly parcel screenings at BidAir Cargo premises.

•      IOD administration and follow-up for daytime and
after-hours incidents.

•      SHE induction, training gap identification and validity
of certificates and licences.

•      Monthly inspections and regular branch visits,
including the coastal hubs.

•      Employee wellness: trauma counselling referrals and
health monitoring and medicals.

•      Driver behaviour monitoring and the driver
rehabilitation programme.

•      Safety projects: RTMS Fleet Management system, ISO
9001, 14001 and 45001, EcoVadis Fleet and Pharma system, Employee Health
Monitoring Programme and Hygiene Cost Reduction Plan.

•      Management reporting, incident reports, client
(Vodacom) reporting and HR Sage administration.

Requirements

•      Grade 12 (Matric).

•      Diploma or BTech in Safety Management.

•      SAIOSH or SACPCMP (CHSO) registration.

•      SAMTRAC qualification or certificate.

•      3–5 years’ experience in logistics or construction.

•      Sound knowledge of occupational health and safety
principles and legislation.

•      Experience in SHE compliance, audits, risk assessments
and incident investigations.

•      Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able
to explain health and safety matters to employees at all levels.

•      Valid driver’s licence.

•      Computer literate.
