Job Description - HR Generalist

A client within the Construction sector is seeking a full -time, on -site HR Generalist on a 4 -month fixed -term contract (maternity cover) to start immediately. You'll provide comprehensive, hands -on human resources support to the HR Manager. The role ensures the smooth running of the HR function across various operational sites, departments, and projects.

The successful candidate will play a central role in managing the employee contract lifecycle, coordinating onboarding and exit administration, and facilitating accurate time, attendance, and payroll support. This position is well -suited to an individual capable of managing diverse day -to -day HR operations, employee relations compliance, and meticulous documentation control within a fast -paced operating environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational HR Support: Provide direct generalist support to the HR Manager across day -to -day human resources operations and processes across various sites, departments, and projects.
  • Contract Lifecycle Management: Draft, renew, amend, and manage employment contracts, contract amendments, letters, and general HR correspondence while maintaining strict compliance checks.
  • Onboarding and Exit Administration: Coordinate comprehensive onboarding processes, employee status changes, and exit administration.
  • Payroll and Time Administration: Support payroll administration by capturing and checking employee information accurately; monitor, validate, and follow up on time and attendance data, including clocking exceptions, leave, overtime, double time, and unpaid time queries.
  • Employee Relations (IR) Compliance: Assist the HR Manager with disciplinary, grievance, incapacity, and performance management processes; prepare IR documentation, notices, minutes, outcomes, and related correspondence while maintaining confidential employee relations files.
  • Training and Compliance Administration: Assist with training administration, including compiling registers, records, and reporting; assist with BEE, skills development, and general compliance administration.
  • Reporting and Legislative Compliance: Compile HR reports, assist with audits where required, and ensure all HR records are maintained in line with POPIA, company policies, and relevant South African labour legislation.


Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an HR Generalist or similar HR role.
  • Experience within the construction industry sector would be highly advantegous.
  • Diploma or tertiary qualification in Human Resources or a related field.
  • Solid industrial relations (IR) experience.
  • Good working knowledge of South African labour legislation, including the BCEA, LRA, BCCEI, and related HR compliance requirements.

Required Software Skills

  • Sage 300 People (Non -negotiable)
  • ERS -Bio (or a similar time and attendance system)
