A reputable high school is seeking a qualified Information Technology Teacher to join their team starting January 2027. This is a full-time, on-site (Monday to Friday, standard school hours plus extra-mural duties) WCED contract post (renewed annually) for an educator to teach CAPS IT in the FET phase (Grades 10–12) and IT-related classes to GET learners as required.
This role is open to both experienced high school educators and industry professionals with strong technical expertise looking to transition into teaching. The successful candidate will prepare learners for the NSC Information Technology examinations, utilize educational technology effectively, and participate in the extra-mural and pastoral life of the school.
Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging CAPS Information Technology lessons to Grades 10, 11, and 12 learners.
Prepare learners for internal assessments and NSC Grade 12 examinations.
Incorporate modern educational technologies into teaching, learning, and assessment.
Play an active role in the school's extra-mural programme and pastoral system (as a tutor in the Vertical Tutor System).
Maintain accurate academic records, assessments, and progress tracking.
Requirements
Knowledge and experience teaching the CAPS curriculum for Information Technology in the FET phase (Grades 10–12), including a minimum of two years’ experience preparing Grade 12 learners for NSC examinations.
Relevant qualification (minimum 4-year tertiary qualification, ideally in Education or Computer Science/IT).
SACE registration (or eligibility/willingness to obtain provisional/conditional registration for industry candidates).
Experience in Computer Applications Technology (CAT) or running a subject department is a strong advantage.
Strong communication, technical, and classroom management skills.
Open to qualified teachers and industry professionals looking to transition into high school education.
Benefits
Contract: Full-time WCED Contract Post (1-year contract, guaranteed annual renewal as long as the subject is offered).
Start Date: January 2027.
Working Hours: Full-time on-site (Monday to Friday, standard school hours plus extra-mural duties).
Remuneration: R25,000 – R40,000+ per month gross (aligned with WCED pay scales based on qualifications/experience) plus an additional salary allowance in lieu of WCED benefits.
