MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

To design, implement, and maintain robust clinical integration architectures enabling seamless data exchange across internal systems and external health partners. This role ensures the secure, scalable, and standards-compliant integration of clinical applications, APIs, and medical devices, while aligning with interoperability frameworks and healthcare compliance requirements. The role includes close collaboration with the Administrator/Core integration team to ensure consistent enterprise-wide interoperability, alignment and standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

Clinical integration architecture design: Design and maintain scalable integration architectures using HL7, FHIR, and other healthcare standards across clinical systems. Ensure alignment with enterprise IT and interoperability strategy.

Interoperability enablement: Develop and maintain secure and compliant interfaces using protocols such as HL7, FHIR, and messaging standards used in financial and administrative systems.


Compliance & standards enforcement: Ensure integration solutions meet national and international healthcare standards (e.g., HL7, FHIR, GDPR, HIPAA). Regularly audit compliance.


Stakeholder collaboration & communication: Work closely with clinical, IT, vendor, and governance teams to define integration requirements and drive solution adoption.


Technical documentation & knowledge transfer: Produce and maintain clear technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and integration specifications. Mentor integration programmers and lead structured knowledge transfer initiatives.

REQUIRED EDUCATION

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION



  • Bachelors’ Degree in Computer Science or equivalent qualification


DESIRED EDUCATION



  • Postgraduate diploma or Master’s in Healthcare interoperability, e.g. HL7 and FHIR

  • Certification in Enterprise Architecture 

  • Frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman)

  • Cloud Certifications (Azure/AWS)

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL MINIMUM EXPERIENCE



  • Minimum 5 years in systems integration architecture, with 2+ years in a clinical/healthcare environment


 


DESIRED EXPERIENCE



  • Experience working in Healthcare organisations

  • Familiarity with agile development and DevOps practices in integration projects

  • API gateway Management (e.g., Apigee, Kong, Azure API Management)

  • Proven experience with FHIR and HL7 implementation in a Clinical/ Healthcare environment is advantageous.

  • Vendor integration (EHRs, LIS, RIS, PACS)

  • Familiarity with agile development and DevOps practices in integration projects

  • Led end-to-end integration design on initiatives

  • Experience integrating

  • Project & Change Management Methodologies
  • Communication & Stakeholder Engagement
