Job Description - Inventory Administrator


Fall Creek is creating a world with better blueberries through its friendly, collaborative team spread across the globe. To help us accomplish this, we are seeking a qualified Inventory Administrator This position will be located in Paarl, Western Cape


 


Position Summary: 


Under direction, this position is responsible for executing all propagation, production and maintenance inventory activities for our South African Office. This position will also provide   assistance to the Planning and Inventory area by ensuring adherence to the Fall Creek standards and procedures.


 


ORGANIZATIONAL FIT:


This position primarily reports to the Planning and Procurement Lead in South-Africa withing the Operations area and works closely with other departments in the nursery.


 


JOB SETTING:


Work is conducted in both Nursery and office setting. Occasional travel and evening or weekend work may be required. Occasional after hour calls and meetings may be required based on the ongoing ERP project and operational requirements.


 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES: (Other duties could be assigned):



  1. Support the Planning and Procurement Lead with overall inventory management in South Africa, following standardized procedures and aligned with the regional production plan.

  2. Conduct frequent counts of propagation and production plants and raw material and accurately record data in the inventory database.

  3. Verify plant varieties and batch information during transplanting activities.

  4. Control and report on the accurate location and distribution of plants and raw material in coordination with the Production team, including visual identification through variety flags.

  5. Document all plant movements within the nursery as initiated by propagation or production teams.

  6. Supervise and control the destruction of plants within the nursery.

  7. Execute the plant destruction in the ERP system after its approval.

  8. Receive, organize, and manage transplanting and packing materials within the nursery.

  9. Create, maintain, and update a materials database.

  10. Monitor transplanting and packing material stock levels on a frequent basis.

  11. Coordinate and arrange the manufacturing of packaging materials.

  12. Responsible for the batch’s allocation for customer orders prior to plants packing in coordination with Production.

  13. Allocate plant batches for customer orders prior to packing.

  14. Perform plant counts before and after packing, including detailed analysis of second grade and dead plants.

  15. Ensure timely and accurate execution of all inventory-related transactions in the ERP system

  16. Prepare and distribute inventory reports to relevant regional departments.

  17. Carry out special projects and additional tasks as assigned.


 


 


REQUIRED EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND TRAINING:



  1. Administrative training (undergraduate vocational training or vocational training).

  2. Previous experience in inventory is desirable but not essential.

  3. Excellent command of computer programs such as Excel, Word and e-mail.

  4. Knowledge or previous experience with ERP systems is desired.          

  5. Ability to speak/write English at an intermediate level.

  6. Attention to detail skills and ability to perform work accurately and without errors.

  7. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

  8. Frustration tolerance skills.

  9. Organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
