Investment Banker: Resource and Project Finance

Job Summary

• The Resource and Project Finance (RPF) Investment Banking (CIB) is responsible for identifying, structuring, and executing RPF banking opportunities across Africa.

The Vice President (VP) role will be responsible for leading the structuring and execution of project finance transactions. The candidate will hold a minimum 5-7 years’ experience in an Investment Banking / Project Finance / Corporate Finance or equivalent role and be able to demonstrate an in-depth understanding and knowledge of the power or infrastructure sector.

Job Description

•    Lead role in the origination and execution of resource and project finance transactions.

•    Develop relationships with existing and potential clients from initial discussions to financial close.

•    Execute the business plan for the business area including development of strategies, client segmentation, marketing plans, and execution criteria to ensure RPF and the wider CIB meets performance targets and objectives

•    Undertake detailed transaction due diligence, including the review and analysis of financial, legal, commercial, and technical reports.

•    Lead client / bank / advisor interaction and ensure the smooth running of transactions.

•    Support all areas of execution from origination to financial close in compliance with the Bank’s risk appetite.

•    Preparation of term sheets and negotiation of loan documentation.

•    Preparation of the credit analysis and relevant documentation for review and approval by credit committees.

•    Preparation and presentation of marketing materials and pitching to target clients.

•    Cross-sell products from other areas of the Bank.

•    Assist with the portfolio management of existing transactions including credit reviews, waivers and amendments.

•    Assist in delivering the strategy and promoting the profile of the Bank.

•    Manage, mentor and develop more junior members of the team

 

Qualifications:

 

•    University Degree or equivalent with professional qualifications

•    3-7+ years of experience in power or infrastructure finance with proven track record of financings across both corporate and project financings.

•    Demonstrable understanding of typical structures used in project finance, and corporate facilities.

•    In-depth knowledge of the power or infrastructure sector

•    Strong credit and financial analysis / financial modelling skills.

•    Good team player with an ability to work independently when required.

•    Strong communication skills - oral, written and presentation.

•    Strong track record in delivering initiatives and solutions in a high-pressure environment.

•    Leadership experience in delivering timely, high-quality outcomes both independently and collaboratively in a small-team environment
