IT Senior Manager: NAR Card & Payments, ATM and POS

Job Purpose

To manage (end to end) the strategy; planning; organising; negotiating; staffing directing and controlling of all aspects of projects or programmes for a portfolio in ensuring the successful implementation of IT Projects and to realise the business cluster strategy. Provides expert advice and counsel to functional/ and non-functional user personnel and project teams on the most complex aspects of integration of logical groupings of technologies. To facilitate agreed solution and ensure the solution meets business requirements with minimal impact to the stability of the IT environment

Job Responsibilities

• 
  
  Lead the end-to-end Payments Delivery Portfolio across Nedbank Africa Regions (NAR), ensuring successful delivery of business and operational requirements.
  
  


• 
  
  Drive implementation of payment capabilities across domestic, cross-border, card, ATM, and global payments environments.
  
  


• 
  
  Manage complex regional payments ecosystems, including regulatory, central bank, ISO 20022, foreign exchange, settlement, and interoperability requirements.
  
  


• 
  
  Partner with business, operations, risk, compliance, architecture, vendors, and country stakeholders to translate strategy into executable delivery roadmaps.

  Establish and oversee governance, delivery standards, KPIs, SLAs, risk management, and portfolio performance.
  
  


• 
  
  Align payment solutions and programme delivery with enterprise architecture and technology roadmaps.
  
  


• 
  
  Ensure operational excellence through system optimisation, root cause analysis, service management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  
  


• 
  
  Oversee end-to-end programme and project delivery, including integration, migration, testing, releases, and post-implementation support.

  Lead capacity planning, resource optimisation, budget management, and delivery team performance.
  
  


• 
  
  Drive innovation, transformation, and customer-centric service delivery across the payments portfolio.
  
  

Key Accountabilities

• Own and drive the NAR Payments Modernisation Roadmap.


• Take full accountability for NAR payment ecosystem partnerships.


• Take full accountability for NAR payment revenue growth and cost reduction initiatives.


• Lead ISO20022 strategy and adoption across subsidiaries.


• Lead NAR payment resilience and scheme certification activities.


• Take full accountability/oversight for NAR of card fraud, payment fraud, AML impacts and fraud technology strategy.

Minimum Experience Level

• 10 - 15 years’ experience in an IT environment (across IT disciplines) of which at least 2 years in a feeder area to this role
