The Role: Junior Accountant / Accounting Trainee

This role is designed to ensure absolute operational alignment within the expanding core corporate team, reviewing candidates across two distinct experience streams. The purpose of the role is to manage daily data capturing, processing, and reconciliations while handling basic client queries and tax submissions. It contributes to the company by maintaining accurate financial records and prepping internal files for monthly management accounts and yearly audit readiness.

Key Responsibilities

  Utilise required experience of 0 to 12 months for the trainee stream or 2 to 3 years for the experienced stream to manage daily operations.

  
  


• 
  

  Perform weekly and monthly bank, debtor, and creditor reconciliations on Sage Online Accounting Software.

  
  


• 
  

  Process monthly payroll on Sage Payroll Software and handle EMP021/501 submissions on the SARS eFiling portal.

  
  


• 
  

  Complete VAT calculations and VAT201 submissions on SARS eFiling.

  
  


• 
  

  Prepare and submit Company Income Tax, including Provisional Taxes.

  
  


• 
  

  Compile Annual Financial Statements.

  
  


• 
  

  Assist with day-to-day data capturing, processing of supplier invoices, and maintaining the general ledger.

  
  


• 
  

  Manage basic client account queries and follow up on outstanding invoices/receivables.

  
  

About You

• 
  

  Required: 0 to 12 months of practical accounting exposure for the trainee stream, or 2 to 3 years of solid, verifiable working experience in a commercial accounting environment or bookkeeping firm for the experienced stream.

  Required: Completed National Diploma or BCom Degree in Accounting/Finance from a recognized tertiary institution for the trainee stream.

  
  


• 
  

  Required: Proven ability to manage independent balance sheet processing, bank reconciliations, and basic tax submissions for the experienced stream.

  
  


• 
  

  Required: High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic familiarity with popular accounting software platforms like Sage, QuickBooks, or Xero.

  Required: High levels of respect, strong communication skills, and an eagerness to take operational direction.

  Required: Punctual, focused, and thrives in a structured, highly disciplined office routine with the ability to work with clients on a face-to-face basis.

  Required: Must reside within close commuting proximity to the offices in Aspen Hills, Johannesburg.

  Required: Must not be currently pursuing or planning to pursue a Master's Degree, and must not be seeking or planning to sign SAICA/SAIPA articles.
