Junior Candidate Quantity Surveyor

The Junior Candidate Quantity Surveyor provides foundational support in cost estimation, measurement, and contract administration under the close supervision of registered or senior quantity surveyors. This entry-level role is ideal for recent graduates or students registered with the SACQSP and beginning their professional development journey toward becoming a Professional Quantity Surveyor (PrQS).

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in basic quantity take-offs and preparation of preliminary cost estimates.
• Support the preparation of tender documentation and bills of quantities under supervision.
• Help compile and organize project cost data, drawings, and contractual documents.
• Accompany senior staff on site visits to observe measurements, progress assessments, and valuations.
• Provide administrative support in contract management, payment processes, and variation tracking.
• Learn and apply industry standards, cost control procedures, and documentation practices.
• Assist in maintaining accurate project files, correspondence, and financial records.
• Participate in internal meetings, training sessions, and mentorship programs.
• Follow professional and ethical standards in line with SACQSP requirements.
• Log relevant experience and competencies toward the completion of the SACQSP candidate program.
