Junior Commercial Counsel

About this job

As Junior Commercial Counsel you will be accountable for general commercial contracting, negotiations and contract management on behalf of the team through a CLM. You will report to the Head of Legal: Commercial.   

You will

• Manage and review customer T&Cs.


• Review and negotiate BAU contracts including leases, NDAs, procurement, service providers, employment agreements and partner/strategic contracts.


• Manage the contract lifecycle management (CLM) tool, tracking tasks on project boards for self and team.

You will need

• 2 - 5 years’ post-articles experience with previous experience in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.


• Curiosity, a learning mindset and the ability to take ownership. 


• Strategic and out-the-box thinking


• To be agile and able to adapt when priorities change, as well as, be able to work in a fast-paced environment.


• Strong communication skills.

Bonus if you have

• Experience with contracts relating to technology, banking, software or financial services is highly beneficial.


• Some in-house or big-firm experience.


• Intellectual property or financial services exposure.


• Technical skills (CLM platforms, project management).

Remote First

This position is based in South Africa.  We operate a remote first working approach, where working remotely is our default way of working.  Our environment is designed to foster innovation and enable collaboration. We have co-working spaces available across some of our main hubs  for collaboration, connection and for the use of those who value working out of an office. You have flexibility where to work from in the country you are hired in, as long as you are set up to work remotely and have access to data with a strong and reliable connection as we value online facetime for collaboration at JUMO.
