Job Description - Junior External Sales Engineer (Gauteng)

We're Hiring: Junior External Sales Engineer
Location: Sandton, Gauteng | Process Automation Industry

About the Role
As a Junior External Sales Engineer, you’ll be responsible for growing and developing a portfolio of industrial customers across the Gauteng region. Your focus will be on building relationships, understanding customer needs, and offering tailored automation and process solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and grow existing customer accounts while identifying new opportunities

  • Develop technical proposals and promote a full range of automation and instrumentation products

  • Engage with clients regularly (minimum 12 face-to-face meetings per week)

  • Collaborate with internal sales and marketing to deliver exceptional service

  • Track opportunities, sales activities, and forecasts using Salesforce CRM

  • Contribute to product demos, shows, and customer events

  • Provide market intelligence and competitor insights

  • Work towards monthly and annual sales targets and KPIs



Requirements

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Matric + National Diploma / N6 or Trade Test in Instrumentation

  • 2–4 years’ experience in technical sales, instrumentation, or industrial automation

  • Strong process background highly preferred

  • Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel within Gauteng

  • Resides in or near the area of operation

  • Customer-focused, self-driven, resilient, and results-oriented

  • Able to confidently present and engage with customers on technical solutions

  • Excellent planning, communication, and CRM system skills (Salesforce, SAP)
