Job Description - Kitchen Manager / Sous Chef x1 - Premium Casual Dining (Luxury Hospitality Group

A newly launched premium casual dining concept operated by a leading Luxury Hospitality Group is seeking an experienced Kitchen Manager / Sous Chef to support the day-to-day leadership of the kitchen. This role sits at the intersection of hands-on cooking and operational oversight, ensuring consistent food quality, smooth service execution, and disciplined kitchen standards. The environment is fast-paced, ingredient-driven, and quality-focused, offering a strong platform for a senior chef ready to take ownership and responsibility within a growing operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Head Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations and service
  • Lead and supervise the kitchen team during preparation and service periods
  • Ensure consistent food quality, presentation, and portion control
  • Manage mise en place planning, prep schedules, and service readiness
  • Uphold food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness standards across the kitchen
  • Assist with stock control, ordering support, and waste management
  • Train, mentor, and discipline junior kitchen staff as required
  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or Kitchen Manager in a casual or premium casual dining environment
  • Strong operational kitchen knowledge with hands-on cooking capability
  • Experience managing teams in a high-volume service setting
  • Solid understanding of food safety and kitchen compliance standards
  • Calm, organized leadership style with strong communication skills
  • Stable career path
  • Reliable, detail-oriented, and service-driven
  • ZAR 20,000–25,000 per month (DOE)
  • Annual leave (statutory)
  • Duty meal provided
  • Uniform provided

 

Additional Information

This position is suited to candidates based in Cape Town or able to commute independently. No additional benefits or allowances apply beyond those listed above.
