Laboratory Technician - Epping, Cape Town

Overall Responsibility: The Laboratory Technician responsibilities will include conducting analysis on production processes, recording, analysing data and reporting the data.

Focus Area 1

Conducting analysis

• Perform daily routine analysis on raw materials, in-process samples, finished products, and utilities according to SOPs


• Perform daily microbiological/chemical tests on beer and utilities samples                                                                                

Focus Area 2

Analyze and reporting of quality data

• Ensure the products conform to the relevant brand/ product specifications, where it deviates, problem solve and escalate


• Submit data timeously to adhere to production schedules

Focus Area 3

Lab Equipment Maintenance

• Ensure Lab equipment are maintained and in good operational state


• Provides first level problem solving support for all lab instruments used for quality at source analysis

Focus Area 4 

Supports manufacturing excellence

• Supports in implementation of Quality pillar requirements


• Support and complies with SHE pillar requirements


• Participate in problem solving activities


• Support the quality 5S drive

Requirements of the Role:

• Matric Certificate with Core Maths, Biology, Science


• Tertiary diploma in food science, microbiology, or related field


• Minimum of 1 year experience in a laboratory/ food production environment

Preferred Skills/Competencies

• Sterile sampling techniques, Microbiological plating techniques and methods


• Attention to detail with the ability to work accurately


• Computer proficient


• Ability to cope with the inherent physical demands of a production facility       


• Ability to communicate clearly, interpersonal skills and working well in a team environment


• Ability to work under pressure & adhere to strict deadlines
