Job Description - Legal Administrator

Location: Johannesburg, Gauteng
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: R216,000 per annum (market-related, subject to experience)

Job Description

We are seeking an organized Legal Administrator to support legal operations. The role involves managing legal documents, coordinating schedules, and assisting legal professionals to ensure efficient case and administrative management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and manage legal documents, contracts, and correspondence.

  • Schedule appointments, hearings, and client meetings.

  • Maintain case files and ensure accurate record-keeping.

  • Liaise with clients, courts, and internal teams.

  • Support billing and invoicing processes.

  • Ensure compliance with South African legal and labor regulations.

Minimum Requirements

Educational Qualifications

  • High School: National Senior Certificate (Matric/Grade 12) with passes in Mathematics and English.

  • Tertiary (Advantageous):

    • NCV Level 4 in Office Administration from an accredited TVET College.

    • OR National Diploma (N4-N6) in Business Management or Office Administration from a TVET College.

    • OR Diploma/Degree in Paralegal Studies, Law, or Business Administration from a recognized university.

Experience and Skills

  • 0-2 years in legal administration or office support.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

  • Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.

Additional Requirements

  • Valid South African drivers license (Code 8) is an advantage.

  • Ability to undergo vetting (citizenship, criminal, qualification checks).

Package and Benefits

In compliance with South African labor laws:

  • Basic Salary: R216,000 per annum, subject to performance review.

  • Statutory Benefits:

    • UIF contributions per the Unemployment Insurance Act.

    • SDL contributions for training.

    • PAYE deductions per SARS regulations.

  • Additional Benefits:

    • 50% employer medical aid contribution.

    • 7.5% employer pension/provident fund contribution (matched by employee).

    • Discretionary annual performance bonus (1-2 months salary).

    • Travel allowance (negotiable, ~R2,500/month).

    • 21 days annual leave, plus public holidays.

    • 30 days sick leave (3-year cycle), 5 days family responsibility leave.
