Legal Professional - Labour

We're looking for a driven Legal Professional who will be responsible for rendering professional legal advice to Law for All policy holders. The successful candidate will act on behalf of Law for All policy holders by way of informal mediation and negotiations; This includes attending to the drafting of letters and other legal documents, also conducting consultations with policy holders with the intention of ensuring that their matters are resolved amicably.

📝MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
📌 LLB degree and or admitted as a Legal Practitioner;

📌Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in two official African languages, of which IsiXhosa and IsiZulu should be one

📌Minimum of two years of experience within a legal environment

📌Experience in mediation and litigation would be advantageous;

📌Computer literate, excellent communication skills and initiative;

📌Excellent drafting skills;

📌Excellent conflict resolution skills;

📌Qualifications/experience in labour law related disputes would be advantageous.

💼RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Duties, as set out below, is not limited to same, any reasonable request made by LAW for ALL or demands that the office might require will be the responsibility of the Legal Professional to comply with and/or attend to)

✅ Client Engagement and Initial consultation:

• Obtain thorough instructions from policyholders through face-to-face consultations, phone calls, or written directives;


• Offer immediate basic legal and policy advice and guidance as necessary;

✅Case Management:

• Manage various types of labour matters;


• Register new cases on Lawyerly system with precision regarding relevant dates and information;


• Verify policy payment history before commencing legal assistance;


• Participate in mediations when applicable, employing legal strategies to resolve issues without resorting to litigation;


• Assist in reviewing and completing of relevant documentation on behalf of policy holders;

✅Communication and Clarification:

• Provide policyholders with detailed explanations of Law For All's processes and exclusion procedures;


• Draft clear, professional correspondence to client’s and third parties which is devoid of spelling and grammar errors, in order to facilitate resolution of matters;

✅Legal Case Evaluation:

• Assessing merits of legal cases and managing clients’ expectations for the purpose of legal advice to policy holder;


• Ascertaining whether policy holder qualifies for litigation cover in terms of the policies and communicating it to them timeously;

✅Case Documentation:

• Maintain meticulous legal case files with regular updates and notes in accordance with Legal and Claims Policy Guides;


• Respond to client callbacks through Lawyerly tasks or other client communication portals within specified timeframes;

✅Progress Reporting:

• Furnish regular progress updates and feedback to policyholders at least bi-monthly or as dictated by the legal issue's requirements;

✅Legal Research and Analysis:

• Conduct verbal and written legal research and analysis, documenting findings comprehensively within case files;


• Apply legal principles to clients’ legal mater in order to effectively advise and mediate where necessary within the scope of the policy;

✅ Compliance:

• Adhere to instructions, guidance, or inspection directives from management to ensure compliance;


• Ensure adherence with Legal and Claims policies as well as Law for All products/policies;


• Foster productive relationships with administrative and support personnel;


• Strong communication skills and collaborative team member;


• Verify policy payment history on a monthly basis;

✅Exclusions & Referrals:

• Coordinate referrals/instructions to panel attorneys;


• Follow rejection/exclusion procedures in accordance with Legal & Claims Policies and as required by law;

✅Case Load Administration:

• Effectively manage the pending case file load and diary system administration.
