As a Librarian at Msuez UK, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining our school library to ensure that it remains a valuable resource for our students and staff. You will work closely with teachers and students to provide them with the resources and support they need to excel in their studies. Key Responsibilities: - Develop and maintain a diverse collection of books, digital resources, and other materials that support the curriculum and interests of our students. - Organize and catalogue all library materials using appropriate systems and software. - Assist students and staff in locating and accessing resources for their academic and personal needs. - Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement age-appropriate library programs and activities that promote literacy and a love for reading. - Instruct students on how to use the library and its resources effectively, including research skills and information literacy. - Stay updated on new library technologies and trends and make recommendations for their implementation. - Manage the library budget and make strategic purchasing decisions to ensure the library remains well-stocked and up-to-date. - Train and supervise library assistants and student volunteers. - Maintain a welcoming and organized library space for students and staff to use. Requirements: - Bachelor's degree in Library Science or a related field. - Previous experience working as a Librarian, preferably in an educational setting. - Strong knowledge of library management systems and cataloguing procedures. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. - Passion for promoting literacy and a love for reading. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team. - Strong organizational and time-management skills. - Proficiency in computer and internet use. - Familiarity with digital resources and information literacy. - Knowledge of South African educational standards and curriculum is an asset.
