Lodge Manager Hluhluwe, Northern KwaZulu-Natal Permanent

A well-established 25-room lodge with an on-site bar and restaurant, close to the Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park and iSimangaliso Wetland Park, is looking for an experienced Lodge Manager to run the property.

What we are looking for

• Grade 12; a hospitality or hotel management qualification is advantageous
• At least 3 to 5 years' management experience in a lodge, hotel or guesthouse of similar size
• Hands-on food and beverage experience, including bar and restaurant operations, stock control and liquor licence compliance
• Proven ability to lead and develop a team of rural community staff
• Sound financial skills: budgeting, cost control, cash-ups and monthly reporting
• Experience with reservations and booking platforms (Booking.com, Airbnb or similar) and a property management system
• Strong guest-relations skills and a high standard of service and presentation
• Willing to live on site and comfortable with remote bushveld living
• Valid driver's licence and own reliable transport
• Fluency in English; Zulu is advantageous
• Couples are welcome: the second partner may be considered for a complementary role such as front-of-house, F&B or housekeeping

Duties:

• Manage the full daily operation of the lodge, from accommodation and housekeeping to the bar, restaurant and grounds
• Lead, schedule and train the staff team and manage performance and discipline in line with South African labour law
• Manage bookings, occupancy and guest communication, and deliver an excellent guest experience
• Control stock, purchasing, budgets and costs, and report regularly to the owner
• Maintain health, safety, hygiene and liquor licensing compliance
• Oversee maintenance of the buildings, equipment and grounds
• Promote the lodge and handle guest reviews and feedback

Remuneration: R18 000 – R20 000 per month, plus live-in accommodation
