An established manufacturer within the food packaging
industry
is expanding its maintenance team and is seeking experienced Maintenance
Artisans
to support its growing operations. This opportunity is ideal for
qualified
Millwrights or Fitters & Turners who thrive in a
fast-paced production environment and take pride in ensuring equipment
reliability and maximum plant uptime.

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you'll become part of
a skilled maintenance team responsible for preventative maintenance, rapid
fault-finding and quality repairs to ensure production continues safely and
efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform
    planned, preventative and breakdown maintenance on production machinery
    and equipment.
  • Diagnose
    and repair mechanical and electrical faults to minimise production
    downtime.
  • Respond
    promptly to equipment breakdowns to ensure production targets are
    achieved.
  • Inspect
    machinery, equipment and facility infrastructure to identify maintenance
    requirements.
  • Carry
    out scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities.
  • Install,
    fit, assemble and repair mechanical components and systems.
  • Perform
    welding and fabrication work where required.
  • Troubleshoot
    equipment and make adjustments to optimise performance.
  • Assist
    with maintenance projects, equipment upgrades and continuous improvement
    initiatives.
  • Prepare
    and maintain drawings for electrical and mechanical spare components.
  • Participate
    in planned maintenance schedules and emergency call-outs.
  • Work
    closely with production teams to maximise equipment availability.


Requirements

  • Matric
    / NQF Level 4.
  • Qualified Millwright or Fitter & Turner (Trade Test / Red Seal).
  • Minimum
    of
    3-5 years' post-trade maintenance experience within a
    manufacturing or production environment.
  • Previous
    experience in the
    food packaging or FMCG manufacturing industry will be advantageous.
  • Own
    reliable transport is essential.
  • Must
    be willing to work a
    rotating shift system (day and night shifts) and participate in a standby roster.

Technical Competencies

For all applicants:

  • Strong
    mechanical aptitude with excellent fault-finding and diagnostic skills.

  • Experience
    maintaining production machinery in a fast-paced, high-volume
    manufacturing environment.

  • Experience
    with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

  • Ability
    to read technical drawings and carry out repairs to a high standard.

  • Confident
    using maintenance tools and workshop equipment.

  • High
    attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

Additional competencies for Millwrights:

  • Sound
    electrical fault-finding and troubleshooting experience.

  • Working
    knowledge of PLCs, VSDs and industrial control systems.

  • Experience
    maintaining both electrical and mechanical production equipment.
