Westfalia Fruit Products, situated in Western Cape, Klapmuts has a vacancy for a suitably qualified and experienced: Maintenance Technician-Millwright

Purpose of the role:

To maintain and repair Packhouse/Ripening Facility Equipment, driving plant availability and always ensuring high quality standards. To execute corrective and preventative maintenance of electrical and mechanical installations as well as fruit packaging equipment within the operation. General fitting of mechanical components as well as electrical installations i.e. Conveyor Systems, Fruit Sorting Machines, Wrappers, Motors, pumps, refrigeration/coldrooms and other equipment associated with the production facility. The position involves the use of hands, power, welding, cutting and grinding tools, and the use of electrical tools & equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintenance

• Maintenance and repair of Packhouse/Ripening Facility Equipment
• Maintenance and repair of conveyors, wrappers, fruit sizers, electricals, carpentry maintenance and repairs, Mechanical (i.e. fitting of machinery components, welding and minor fabrication of components etc)
• Requirements of general, Electrical (i.e. LV installation, wiring of motors and controls, etc.), daily maintenance works order requests, always ensuring high quality standards
• Inspection of refrigeration/coldroom equipment

Team Building

• Creating a healthy and great working condition for all workers

 Health and Safety

• Conducting weekly toolbox talks
• Ensuring all safety rules and regulations are adhered to at all costs
• Filling and signing off Safety Legal Inspection Registers for the maintenance equipment and tools
• Safe Keeping of Tools & Equipment
• Reporting of near misses

Qualification:

• Matric
• N3 or higher

• Millwright/Electro-Mechanical Trade Certificate (Qualification)

Experience:

• +2 years of relevant maintenance experience (post qualification) within a production environment in Electrical and Mechanical installations
• Experienced in general fitting, fabrication and low voltage electrical maintenance & installations in a production environment
• Basic experience on Refrigeration/Coldrooms (Compressors, controllers, pumps, etc.), mechanical and electrical components and equipment
• Valid driver’s license
