Incomar is an aerospace and defence company based in Centurion, South Africa. We are continuously expanding our specialised product development and flight operations capabilities. The group was established in South Africa in 1999, with its origins in military aircraft weapons and avionics integration and flight testing. We are seeking a skilled and motivated Mechanical Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and optimising mechanical equipment and parts to ensure safe and efficient operations. This role requires strong technical knowledge, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to quality and safety standards. Required Qualifications:



  • National Diploma, Bachelor of Technology or relevant technical qualification.

  • Fitter and Turner or Tool and Die Trade.

  • Police Clearance Certificate (required prior to commencement of employment).


 


Required Skills and Experience:



  • Minimum of 5 years’ hands-on experience in mechanical assembly, integration and inspection of mechanical systems.

  • Knowledge of quality assurance techniques applicable to mechanical systems.

  • Experience in the checking of technical 2D drawings for manufacturing release.

  • Proficiency in using hand tools and measuring instruments.

  • Design and develop jigs, fixtures, moulds, gauges and assembly aids for aerospace component manufacture and assembly.

  • Analyse engineering drawings and 3D models to define tooling requirements, tolerances and inspection strategies; apply GD&T to achieve required accuracy.

  • Incoming inspection on mechanical parts.

  • Hands-on experience in workshop on milling machine and lathe.


 


Preferred Skills and Experience:



  • Familiarity with industry standards such as ISO 9001, AS9100, and aerospace-specific regulations.

  • Experience in tolerancing for interchangeability.

  • Experience in testing and calibration.


 


Job Description:



  • Mechanical Integration Technician within the Production Department.

  • Provide support and hands-on assembly, alignment, installation, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation of mechanical subsystems into airframes. The role ensures subsystems meet engineering and safety specifications and supports integration efforts from component-level to full-system validation.

  • Modify parts on milling machine in workshop.

Responsibilities:



  • Assemble and integrate Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) for a variety of projects, ensuring compliance with quality, technical, and project requirements.

  • Conduct inspection and quality verification of all incoming mechanical components.

  • Modify and refine development parts as required to support engineering and production objectives.

  • Provide workshop support and technical assistance to other business entities and departments as needed.

  • Support the manufacturing, production, and industrialisation processes to ensure products meet quality and performance requirements.

  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, modifications, and testing activities.

  • Ensure compliance with company procedures, safety regulations, and quality management systems.

  • Collaborate with engineers, production personnel, and other departments to resolve technical issues and improve processes.
