As we expand from online checkout into physical retail through the Happy Card, we are building a merchant team capable of supporting both digital and in-store merchant partnerships.

About the Role

Happy Pay is looking for a Merchant Account Manager to support and grow relationships with our merchant partners. This role sits within the Merchant Success team and will support merchants across both online integrations and physical retail partnerships.

Depending on team structure and business needs, this role may focus on online merchant success and performance, retail merchant activation and in-store execution, or a combination of both.

The role requires strong relationship management, operational coordination, and a proactive approach to ensuring merchants are successful using Happy Pay.

Key Responsibilities

Merchant Onboarding & Integration

• Support new merchants during onboarding to ensure a smooth setup process.
• Guide merchants through integration and platform configuration.
• Work closely with the technical team to resolve onboarding issues.
• Ensure merchants are correctly activated and operational on the Happy Pay platform.

Merchant Relationship Management

• Act as a primary point of contact for merchant partners.
• Build strong working relationships with merchant teams across marketing, operations, and finance.
• Provide ongoing support to ensure merchants have a positive experience using Happy Pay.

Merchant Performance & Growth

• Monitor merchant performance including transaction volume, conversion, and customer engagement.
• Identify opportunities to improve merchant performance and drive additional usage.
• Share insights and performance updates with merchants regularly.

Merchant Marketing Coordination

• Coordinate marketing initiatives between merchants and the Happy Pay marketing team.
• Assist in planning campaigns, promotions, and in-store or digital activations.
• Ensure merchants are aware of and participating in Happy Pay marketing initiatives.
  

Store Directory & Merchant Content Management

• Upload newly onboarded merchants to the Happy Pay Store Directory.
• Maintain accurate merchant listings and details.
• Ensure promotions and deals are up to date and visible to customers.
  

Retail Merchant Support (Where Applicable)

As Happy Pay expands into physical retail, Account Managers may also support store-based merchants. Responsibilities in this area may include:

• Assisting with onboarding of physical retail partners.
• Coordinating store-level information such as Merchant IDs (MIDs) and terminal details.
• Supporting store readiness prior to launch.
• Conducting occasional store visits to verify activation and signage placement.
• Coordinating distribution of in-store marketing collateral.
• Supporting retailer teams with training and product awareness.

Performance Ads Platform (Happy Ads)

• Manage merchants participating in Happy Pay's performance advertising network.
• Support onboarding and campaign setup.
• Share monthly performance reports and campaign insights.
• Act as the main contact for Happy Ads queries.
• Coordinate billing and invoicing for advertising campaigns.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, or a related field
• 2+ years' experience in account management, partnerships, or merchant success
• Strong relationship management and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple merchants and projects simultaneously
• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
• Experience in fintech, payments, retail, or e-commerce is beneficial but not required
