Job Description - Moodle Support Specialist (On-Site)

Are you a practical problem solver who enjoys helping others navigate digital platforms? Do you have hands-on experience with Moodle and a knack for client support? We’re hiring a Moodle Support Specialist to join our growing eLearning team at AOSIS.

You'll provide day-to-day support for our accredited digital CPD platform, guide instructors through Moodle configuration, test new features, and ensure our training and documentation remain up to date.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys structured support work, is confident working with educators, and thrives in client-facing environments. You’ll work closely with our technical specialist, publishing teams, and healthcare clients to keep learning environments running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

User & support coordination

  • Respond to instructor and admin queries via ticketing system and email

  • Help troubleshoot enrolment issues, permissions, and course activities (quizzes, forums, SCORM, H5P)

  • Assist with gradebook setup, course duplication, and group settings

  • Triage and log client issues for escalation when needed

  • Maintain user-facing help materials and FAQs

Functional Moodle support

  • Support course and user setup workflows (including backups and restores)

  • Test plugin updates and Moodle version releases

  • Document functional site configurations per client

  • Track patterns in support tickets and recommend improvements

Client training & onboarding

  • Assist with onboarding new instructors and clients

  • Join calls or training sessions as co-facilitator

  • Share follow-up materials and record attendance

  • Help prepare training resources and update guides




Requirements


Minimum requirements

  • National Diploma or Bachelor’s in IT, Education, Instructional Design, or a related field

  • 1+ year of Moodle experience (admin, teaching assistant, IT helpdesk, or instructional support)

  • Comfortable with digital tools like Google Docs, Excel, and ticketing systems

  • Clear, professional communication skills (written and spoken)

Nice-to-have experience (Not required—training provided)

  • Moodle Educator Certificate (MEC) or Moodle Academy coursework

  • Familiarity with SCORM, H5P, Zoom/Teams integrations, or accessibility standards

  • Experience delivering or supporting online training

  • Knowledge of POPIA, GDPR, or WCAG 2.1
