Electrician

Job Purpose:

Our client is seeking a qualified Electrician to ensure the safe, reliable and efficient operation of electrical systems, machinery and equipment through effective installation, preventative maintenance, fault finding and repairs. The role will be responsible for minimising production downtime by responding promptly to electrical breakdowns, identifying root causes and implementing effective corrective actions. The Electrician will ensure all work complies with relevant electrical codes, safety standards and company procedures, while providing technical support to Maintenance and Production teams. The role will also require knowledge of VSD/VFDs, PLCs, light and heavy current systems, and a strong focus on equipment reliability and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:

Install, repair, and maintain electrical systems, machinery and equipment in compliance with electrical codes and safety standards.

Conduct preventative maintenance routines to ensure longevity and efficient operations of electrical systems.

Troubleshoot electrical issues using testing devices and diagnostic equipment.

Regularly inspect electrical systems, circuits and equipment to identify potential hazards or malfunctions.

Report any electrical problems, safety concerns or potential risks to the Maintenance Manager or relevant personnel.

Adhere to all safety protocols. procedures and regulations to ensure a safe working environment.

Ensure compliance with local, state and federal electrical codes and regulations.

Collaborate with other maintenance staff, engineers, and production personnel to ensure seamless operations.

Respond promptly to electrical emergencies or breakdowns to minimize downtime and ensure the safety of personnel and equipment.

Knowledge of PLC.

Light and heavy current

Qualifications & Experience:

Trade Tested Electrician (Red Seal)

Minimum of 2 years’ experience in FMCG

Minimum of 1 year experience with VSD or VFD
