Operations Supervisor

WHAT IS ON OFFER 

Alfred H Knight has an exciting opportunity for an Operations Supervisor to join the team based in Luanda, Angola. The role is primarily responsible for supervising all operational matters as directed, ensuring that client requirements are met and in compliance with Client and AHK policies and procedures. The incumbent is responsible to ensure that tasks are carried out in a safe and efficient manner minimising any potential hazards.

To be successful at Alfred H Knight the incumbent will need to display the following:

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND WORK EXPERIENCE

Responsibilities

• Day-to-day responsibility for the delivery of inspection services by ensuring efficient and appropriate use of resources/facilities to meet AHK’s contractual obligations and specific customer expectations


• Carrying out operational duties to ensure quality and customer targets are achieved


• Aid in developing relations with clients to enhance trust, understanding and an awareness of local market trends/developments


• In conjunction with the Line Manager ensure all employees have the appropriate level of skills, knowledge and experience in order to provide a high-quality service to customers and to instigate training activities where required.


• Aid the Line Manager in the development and maintenance of a lean and accountable local team structure that encourages employees to take ownership of operational issues/opportunities at appropriate levels


• Work closely with Senior Management to ensure that new business is explored and appropriate growth opportunities are maximised


• Aid in ensuring effective teamwork between Inspection and Laboratory teams, where relevant, to ensure an effective Quality and Quantity service is provided to the customer

Required Competencies

• Effective interpersonal skills


• Able to adopt a flexible approach to work and react effectively to a rapidly changing environment


• Working knowledge of effective people management techniques

Required Qualifications

• Second Cycle (with Maths and Science)


• Analytical Chemistry Diploma or other appropriate Tertiary qualification

Required work experience

• Minimum 3 years’ experience of operating in a co-ordination or supervisory role within a successful team


• Experience in supporting QMS requirements in relation to ISO 17025 accreditation 


• Desirable but not essential; experience of the metals and minerals industries, including basic chemistry knowledge and laboratory skills

Required Languages

• Highly proficient in Portuguese  (Verbal and written) 


• Workable proficiency in English will be an added advantage
