Packhouse Manager

Our client is looking for an experienced, self-motivated and target driven Packhouse Manager for their berry-farm. They are looking for a senior, well experienced packhouse manager with a minimum of 5-years experience in soft fruit, a good all rounder in a packhouse with knowledge and experience in both quality assurance and labour management.

Location: Hermanus, Western Cape

Reports to: Farm Business Manager

Responsibilities

1) Management of the pack house operations including all pack house staff and operations

2) Sound leadership and direction in the pack house ensuring quality product output, accuracy and consistency in pack house processes and documentation

3) Building and implementing best practice policies and principles

4) Develop and train a team of pack house staff

5) Ensuring high standards of health and safety practices

6) Ensuring compliance to all necessary industry quality assurance standards

7) Meeting all specifications as required by both local and export customers

1) Tertiary qualification

2) Must have excellent management experience

3) Must have excellent communication and interpersonal relationship skills

4) Must have good numerical and planning skills

5) Must be self-disciplined, a team player, honest and of high integrity

6) Must be able to work under minimum supervision while meeting the set targets & deadlines

7) Must be willing to work overtime and weekends

8) Experience in HACC, BRC, and or other quality system would be advantageous

9) Experience in managing soft fruit (labour intensive) pack houses would be advantageous.
