Job Description - People Business Partner - Clayville, Johannesburg

Purpose of Role:


To facilitate the implementation of the People Strategic Plans for the specific site/plant. To implement People interventions, providing the frameworks and guidance to ensure alignment with business objectives for the specific site/plant.


 


Key Responsibilities:



  • Provide a comprehensive HR service across all aspects of people management.

  • Offer extensive support and possess in-depth knowledge of all policies, procedures, labour legislation, and related processes.

  • Drive and implement strategic Human Resources initiatives that support divisional business plans, including talent management and organisational design.

  • Co-ordinate and implement the Workplace Skills Plan.

  • Drive operational transformation plans in line with the strategic business plan.

  • Influence management decision-making by interpreting and analysing relevant Human Capital information.

  • Drive the Performance Management system and support strategic business initiatives at all levels.

  • Ensure governance and compliance with all HR-related processes and procedures.

  • Facilitate and implement remuneration and rewards policies and procedures to improve retention.

  • Foster a harmonious employee relations climate in the operation and ensure effective stakeholder management and partnering.

  • Ensure compliance with organisational policies, procedures, and legal requirements.

  • Manage external litigation proceedings at the CCMA (conciliation and arbitration process).

  • Oversee disciplinary hearings and grievances, ensuring procedural and substantive fairness.


 


Recruitment:



  •  Collaborate with department managers to identify and draft detailed and accurate job descriptions and hiring criteria.

  • Lead the interview process, attending and conducting interviews with managers and other stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with the hiring manager and/or other human resource staff during the offer process, identifying and recommending salary ranges, incentives, start dates, and other relevant details.


 


Qualifications:



  • Minimum requirement: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or Industrial Psychology, or an equivalent qualification (an Honours degree will be advantageous).


 


Experience:



  • 5 –7 years of experience within a manufacturing environment, with at least 3 years in a Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) role.

  • Strong knowledge of labour legislation, including the Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA), Labour Relations Act (LRA), and all relevant statutory laws.

  • Sound knowledge of payroll and HR information systems.

  • Business partnering skills with strong problem-solving abilities.

  • Negotiation and effective conflict resolution skills.

  • Ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.

  • Strategic thinking with a focus on aligning HR practices with business objectives.

  • A proactive approach to identifying HR-related issues and implementing effective solutions.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and develop HR team members.
