Physician Medical Billing Specialist - PST Hours (Remote)

We are seeking a seasoned professional with a minimum of 2 years’ hands-on experience in Physician Medical Billing (Professional Billing and not Long-Term Care) to join a fast-paced USA healthcare client’s billing team. This is a critical role that requires someone who is already confident and skilled in this role as no training can be provided, and therefore prior experience is essential.

As a Physician Medical Billing Specialist, you will be responsible for executing the full end-to-end billing cycle for professional healthcare services. This is a detail-oriented role requiring a strong understanding of U.S. physician billing standards.

PLEASE NOTE:

• Working Hours: This role requires you to work PST hours Mon - Fri from 9am to 6pm PST (18h00pm to 03h00am South African time - subject to change depending on daylight savings)
• Internet Requirements: A fixed fiber line with a minimum speed of 25 Mbps (upload & download) and the ability to support a wired Ethernet connection is mandatory. Applicants without a fixed fiber line cannot be considered.
• Power Backup: A reliable power backup solution is required to manage load shedding and power outages. Applicants without a power backup cannot be considered.
• Work Environment: This is a remote role for South African Citizens only.

• Minimum 2 years of experience in U.S. Physician/Professional Medical Billing
• Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes
• Familiarity with U.S. healthcare insurance payers, including denials and appeals
• Experience using medical billing software systems
• Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience supporting U.S. healthcare providers or billing companies
• Knowledge of compliance requirements and best practices in U.S. billing

Key Responsibilities:

• Handle the complete end-to-end physician billing process for professional healthcare services.
• Apply accurate CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding.
• Submit clean claims to payers, follow up on denials, and manage appeals.
• Work with U.S. insurance companies and understand reimbursement workflows.
• Use billing software systems to manage and process claims efficiently.
• Maintain thorough documentation and uphold compliance standards.
• Identify and resolve billing discrepancies independently.
