Private Equity Analyst

Job Description - Private Equity Analyst

As an Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in supporting
our clients throughout the M&A lifecycle. You will work closely with the
investment teams across our private equity and corporate finance advisory
clients, doing similar work as if you were in-house at one of these firms.
Oceanrock provides training and mentoring to help you develop the core set of
technical skills required, including financial analysis, research, financial
modelling and valuation, communication, and critical thinking skills. You will
also receive on-the-job training and feedback from a senior member of our team
to set you up for success in the early stages of the client relationship. We
are looking for talented and motivated individuals with a strong interest in
finance and a desire to contribute towards a growing business.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Manage a client relationship, with responsibility for client
satisfaction and overall experience

2. Execute on your client's workflows, as follows:

  • Perform
    industry and market research to support investment analysis and strategic
    decision-making

  • Provide
    origination support to identify deal opportunities, including market
    mapping and initial desk-top diligence

  • Prepare
    detailed reports, financial summaries and investment memorandums for
    clients

  • Contribute
    to client presentations and meetings, providing insights and financial
    data to support discussions

  • Track
    financial performance and market developments to ensure that clients have
    up-to-date, accurate information for their investment decisions

  • Prepare
    and review financial models to evaluate investment opportunities and
    company valuations

  • Communicate
    findings clearly to senior team members and present workflows to clients,
    ensuring that complex financial concepts are easily understood

3. Over time, play a leadership role within Oceanrock, as
follows:

  • Invest
    in junior team members to build their technical and soft skills

  • Participate
    in internal initiatives designed to support business goals

  • Contribute towards business development efforts

Requirements

Candidates should be a recently qualified CA(SA), or a
finance professional with a degree in finance and ~2 years of relevant work
experience.

In addition, candidates should demonstrate:

  • Strong
    analytical skills, with the ability to think critically in a commercial
    and investment context

  • Excellent
    attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently under tight
    deadlines

  • Effective
    communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly, in
    both written and verbal forms

  • A
    team-oriented approach and proactive attitude, with a willingness to learn
    and take on new challenges
