The purpose of this role is to design, optimise, and troubleshoot water and wastewater treatment processes. Reporting to the Head of Engineering or Technical Director, the position requires a strong balance of mechanical/civil process engineering principles and aquatic chemistry to translate laboratory and chemical analysis into robust engineering designs and operational solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Utilize a minimum of 5 years of process engineering experience specifically within the industrial/municipal water and wastewater treatment industry.
Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), mass and energy balances, and hydraulic profiles for new plants or system upgrades.
Analyse complex water quality data, including organic loading, heavy metals, scaling indices, and COD/BOD fractions.
Design optimal chemical conditioning regimes, including coagulation-flocculation kinetics, advanced oxidation, and membrane cleaning (CIP) protocols.
Lead the commissioning of new water treatment infrastructure.
Diagnose and resolve chronic process upsets, biological failures, and membrane fouling issues across various sites.
Evaluate innovative water treatment technologies, such as MBR, MBBR, DAF, and direct potable reuse systems, and integrate them into standardized product offerings.
Compile technical specifications, cost estimates, and engineering reports for commercial and municipal tenders.
