Job Description - Production Assistant - Hex Berries

Are you passionate about agriculture and ready to grow your career in farm production? We are seeking a dedicated and hands -on Production Assistant to support our Production Manager in delivering high -quality crop production and operational excellence.

As a Production Assistant, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth day -to -day running of our farm operations. You’ll assist with planning, coordinating, and supervising activities across multiple production sections — from planting right through to harvesting.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a dynamic environment, leading teams, and contributing to high -quality agricultural output.

Key Performance Outputs

Production & Operational Management

Coordinate activities including planting, pruning, fertigation, harvesting, and pest/disease control
Monitor crop maturity and production targets
Assist in planning and executing production schedules

Team Support & Supervision

Support supervisors overseeing various farm sections
Assist with staff coordination and performance tracking
Ensure adherence to safety standards and work procedures

Administration & Reporting

Maintain accurate production and operational records
Report on daily outputs and productivity
Manage timekeeping and absenteeism documentation

Compliance & Quality

Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g. Global G.A.P, SIZA)
Maintain quality standards aligned to company guidelines
Support implementation of best agricultural practice

Requirements

What We’re Looking For

Qualifications & Experience

Grade 12 / Senior Certificate
Additional agricultural certifications (e.g. irrigation, scouting, plant production) will be advantageous
Minimum 2 years’ relevant farm production experience
Practical knowledge of crop production processes (from land preparation to harvesting and maintenance)

Technical Skills

Solid understanding of horticulture and fruit production
Knowledge of good agricultural practices
Computer literacy (MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Basic understanding of labour legislation, health & safety, and farm operations

Behavioural Competencies

Strong leadership and team management ability
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Good planning, organisation, and coordination skills
Analytical thinker with strong problem -solving ability
Strong interpersonal and relationship -building capabilities
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Detail -oriented and results -driven
