Production Manager – Plastic Injection Moulding

Salary: R45,000 – R55,000 CTC per month

Our client, a well-established manufacturer in the plastic injection moulding industry, is looking for an experienced, hands-on Production Manager to lead their production team at their Atlantis facility.

This is not a desk-bound management role. We are looking for someone who is technically strong, enjoys being on the factory floor, and has extensive experience in plastic injection moulding, including machine setting and production optimisation. The successful candidate will be supported by a Production Administrator, allowing them to focus on driving production, quality, efficiency, and team performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day operations of the production department.


• Lead and motivate production staff to achieve daily production targets.


• Set up and optimise injection moulding machines for maximum efficiency.


• Troubleshoot production and moulding issues to minimise downtime.


• Ensure products meet quality standards and customer specifications.


• Monitor production output, waste, cycle times, and machine efficiencies.


• Plan and coordinate production schedules.


• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and company procedures.


• Work closely with maintenance to minimise equipment downtime.


• Drive continuous improvement initiatives throughout the factory.


• Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organised production environment.

Minimum Requirements

• 6–15 years' experience in plastic injection moulding manufacturing.


• Previous experience as a Production Manager, Production Supervisor, or Senior Setter ready to step into a management role.


• Essential: Hands-on injection moulding machine setting experience.


• Essential: Strong technical knowledge of plastic injection moulding processes.


• Experience working with large injection moulding machines and large plastic products.


• Proven ability to manage production teams in a manufacturing environment.


• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.


• Excellent leadership and communication skills.


• Able to work under pressure and meet production deadlines.

Advantageous

• Experience implementing continuous improvement initiatives.


• Knowledge of production planning and manufacturing KPIs.


• Exposure to quality management systems.


• Technical or manufacturing qualification.
