Production Manager Manufacturing

An established and innovative manufacturing company specializing in high-quality plastic packaging products for the FMCG market is looking for a dynamic Production Manager to lead their production team. The organization is known for its commitment to excellence, quality, and continuous improvement, with a strong focus on people development and modern production processes.

Duties & Responsibilities

As the Production Manager, you will play a key role in driving production efficiency, product quality, and operational excellence. Responsibilities include:

Production Coordination

• Implement production schedules to meet customer demand
• Monitor workflow and production processes, adjusting resources and schedules as required
• Drive continuous improvement and root cause analysis
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards
• Minimize waste and manage inventory effectively

Team & Personnel Leadership

• Lead and motivate production personnel, including supervisors and assistants
• Conduct performance reviews, enforce discipline, and foster teamwork
• Train and develop staff using hands-on and show-and-do techniques
• Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement

Quality & Compliance

• Enforce GMP and ISO 9001 standards
• Ensure food safety and product quality at relevant sites
• Maintain accurate production records and ensure compliance with QMS

Health & Safety

• Ensure safe working conditions and compliance with company H&S standards
• Proactively address safety hazards and incidents

Reporting & Administration

• Compile and maintain accurate production and operational reports
• Communicate effectively across departments for alignment and issue resolution

Desired Experience & Qualifications

Education:

• Grade 12 (Matric)
• HNDT in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (essential)
• NQF 6 in Production or Operations Management (advantageous)

Experience:

• Minimum of 5 years in a Production Manager role within a manufacturing/FMCG environment
• Extensive knowledge and experience with injection moulding processes and machinery
• Familiarity with supplier training programs is an advantage

Key Competencies:

• Deep understanding of plastic manufacturing and injection moulding
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, and planning skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
• Ability to work under pressure and manage conflict effectively
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
• Understanding of ISO 9001 and QMS principles
