Job Description - QHSE Controller

Job Description:

Quality & Food Safety Management:

·       Raw material quality control.

·       Finished product Quality control.

·       Control and conduct final product positive release.

·       Supplier Quality Control.

·       Address Quality requirements and hazards in a technical context.

·       Monitor compliance of Quality agreements with stakeholders.

·       Monitor Quality requirements and standards.

·       Monitor compliance of Quality and Food Safety policies to business strategic plans and objectives.

·       Ensure compliance to all Quality and Food Safety related legislation.

·       Conduct daily line verification checks, general quality checks on the production.

·       Daily packaging checks, general quality checks regarding packaging from products produced during night shift.

·       Daily warehouse temperature control.

·       Daily cleaning inspections in the plant as well as warehouse.

·       Collecting monitoring samples for external analysis.

·       Monthly GMP inspection in Springs site.

·       Liaison between Springs plant and Quality department for any Quality and Food Safety issue.

Quality Control / Laboratory Management:

·       Coordinate Quality Control systems process and other aspects the Laboratory contract and processes.

·       Monitor and review analytical results and ensure that non-conformances are actioned.

·       Coordinate and maintain the Company’s quality inspection and product release programs.

FSSC 22 000 & ISO 9001:

·       Monitor and report on the FSSC 22 000 and ISO 9001 program management to ensure compliance to local and international Standards.

·       Control and ensure compliance to:

o    Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) / Prerequisite Programmes (PRP).

o    Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) principles the Food Security process.

·       Maintain an auditing program and coordinate compliance audits of third-party suppliers, manufacturers and distributors.

·       Coordinate the Integrated Management System (FSSC 22000, 9001, RSPO, SEDEX) and Customer External Audits.

·       Coordinate and conduct Supplier Audits.

·       Coordinate and conduct Internal Audits:

o    GMP

o    CCP

o    Key Business Process

o    Laboratory

o    Third Parties

·       Coordinate, conduct, report and follow up on Internal Audits:

·       Close out Quality & Food Safety findings and ensure close-out of all other Audit findings

 

Quality & Food Safety Training:

·       Conduct the Quality & Food safety training programme

 

Quality Reporting:

·       Compile Quality Reports

Health, Safety and Environment

·       Administration

·       Complies with standards by revising appropriate procedures for HSE risk

·       Maintenance of the document management system including archives

·       Promotes housekeeping and HSE awareness

·       Captures HSE actions on HSE Action Plan

·       Regularly audits the aspects of HSE – monthly/quarterly.

·       Compile monthly HSE committee meeting presentation.

 

IMS System

·       Compile, review and audit of procedures and systems

·       Assist in the closing of findings after certification audits

·       Participate in audits and inspections

 

  KPI report

·       Capture results on Excel spreadsheet

·       Verifies captured results by comparing to submitted reports

·       Submits results captured on final report

·       Captures results on graphs

·       Scans and faxes report

·       Communicates results to site

·       Files all relevant reports

·       Track NCR closure

 

Support

·       Responds to HSE related matters.

·       Updates HSE communication notice boards.

·       Assist management and supervision in compiling HIRA’s for their areas.

·       Ensure compliance with the legal requirements (OHS Act, NEMA and other related legislation) and develop measures to address/mitigate risks.

·       Provide inputs into any Modifications, Works Programs and Authorizations for production facilities.

 

Minimum Qualification:

National Diploma in Food Technology/ Analytical Chemistry and/or National Diploma in Safety Management or equivalent.

Experience:

1– 3 years relevant experience in a related role within the food manufacturing environment

Must have working knowledge of OHS Act and Compensation for

Occupational Injury and Disease Act, Environmental Legislation and other relevant legislation.
