Quality Assurance Officer (Manufacturing)

Our client, a precision-engineering manufacturer based in Alrode South, is looking for a QA Officer who doesn’t just tick boxes, but actively drives measurable quality performance across operations.

They need someone who’s hands-on, sharp-eyed, and confident leading audits, training teams, and solving problems before customers even know they exist.

In This Role, You’ll Be Responsible for:

• Leading QA initiatives across two production sites
  

• Implementing and continuously improving Quality Management Systems
  

• Facilitating internal audits, CAPA processes, and risk assessments
  

• Rolling out training and awareness initiatives for quality standards
  

• Collaborating closely with QC, Engineering, R&D, and SHEQ teams
  

• Reporting on quality performance, trends, and non-conformance outcomes
  

• Being a key player in maintaining and advancing certification readiness
  

Requirements

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Matric (Grade 12) and one or more of the following:
  

  • Completed, advanced, accredited training in ISO 9001 or IATF 16949, covering:
    

    • Implementation
      

    • Root Cause Analysis & Problem Solving
      

    • FMEA
      

    • Control Plans
      

    • Internal Auditing
      

    • (PPAP and APQP are advantageous)
      

  • OR a BSc / BA Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or similar field
    

  • OR Minimum 6 years of Quality Assurance experience in lieu of tertiary qualifications
    

Experience Requirements:

• 2–5 years’ experience in Quality Assurance within a high-volume manufacturing or product-based engineering environment
  

• Experience with:
  

  • ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 systems implementation
    

  • Internal or supplier audits
    

  • Creating and improving SOPs, work instructions, and quality templates
    

  • Interpreting technical drawings and steel specifications
    

  • Tools such as FMEA, Control Plans, PPAPs, SPC, and structured problem-solving
    

• Exposure to training facilitation and quality awareness programs
  
  

Technical & Soft Skills:

• Advanced computer literacy: Word, Excel, MS Project/Gantt tools, QMS platforms
  

• Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  

• Critical thinking and analytical capabilities
  

• Able to engage confidently at all levels—from floor inspectors to technical managers
  

• Solid understanding of machining processes and steel mechanical properties
