Raw Materials Buyer

Our client is seeking an experienced Raw Materials Buyer to manage the end-to-end local procurement of raw materials and consumables required for production. The role focuses on securing the right quality, quantity, price and supply while supporting cost-effective, sustainable and compliant procurement practices.

Responsibilities

• Purchase raw materials, goods and services at the required quality, quantity, price and time to maximise value.


• Manage a capable and secure supplier base using sound procurement practices.


• Execute sourcing projects, including supplier negotiations and implementation of agreed solutions.


• Place, expedite and reconcile purchase orders using SAGE data and internal requirements.


• Resolve supplier payment issues and blocked invoice queries.


• Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to support procurement and operational requirements.


• Maintain procurement budgets, sourcing portfolios, spend, supply planning and KPI information.


• Identify and communicate supply risks to relevant stakeholders.


• Log and resolve claims raised against suppliers.


• Support compliance with applicable procurement policies, procedures and governance requirements.

Requirements

• 3-year BCom degree or diploma in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Commerce or a related field.


• SAPICS or CIPS certification is advantageous.


• 3–5 years’ experience in a strategic sourcing or procurement-related role.


• Experience within manufacturing, FMCG, chemical or retail industries.


• Proven experience in sourcing project execution, including supplier negotiations and solution implementation.


• Experience with new product development (NPD) processes.


• Knowledge of procurement governance, strategic sourcing and the BBBEE Scorecard.


• Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control and costs.


• Strong negotiation and analytical skills.


• Experience working with SAGE data for purchasing activities.
