About NOA
Established in 2022, NOA (an acronym for Net Zero Africa) is a fully integrated energy company that generates, procures, aggregates and delivers clean, competitively priced electricity to businesses across South Africa. Our trading licence from the National Energy Regulator of South Africa was approved on 31 January 2025. We empower commercial and industrial companies to reach their net-zero goals while securing long-term energy savings.
NOA has raised $245 million in equity capital from Old Mutual's African Infrastructure Investment Managers (AIIM), enabling us to expedite the purchase of electrons from trusted independent power producers (IPPs) and fast-track the construction of our own fleet of generation facilities. We have a significant site pipeline, with 1.5 GW of generation assets under construction. We procure energy from NOA-owned wind, solar PV and battery energy storage sites and from trusted third-party IPPs, offering our customers customised solutions with flexibility in size, contract tenor and security requirements.
At NOA, we believe that energy is life; it is the pulse that powers our industries, our economy and empowers our communities. We are currently at a unique, once-in-a-generation moment in South African history, similar to the birth of the gold industry or the mobile revolution. It is a mission-critical time, and we have the right partners and expertise to shape the creation of an entirely new energy landscape.
What truly sets us apart is The NOA Way, our intentionally crafted culture and roadmap for excellence. We aren't just a utility; we are a tight, high-functioning team of all-in problem solvers who lean into complexity to find original solutions. We speak simply, act big and step forward to own the changes our nation needs.
Our impact is immense: we are here to solve the immediate energy crisis, fuel the growth of the South African economy, and create a global blueprint for a decarbonised future. We are building a phenomenal team to do something magnificent together, and we make sure to savour the journey along the way.
Why we are inviting you to apply
This is not an advert for one specific vacancy. It is an open invitation to introduce yourself to NOA before the right role opens.
We have a significant amount of hiring planned for the remainder of 2026 and through 2027 as our 1.5 GW construction pipeline advances and our trading business scales. Rather than waiting for a particular advert to appear, this is your opportunity to tell us who you are, what you do well, and what you are looking for next.
Where we are hiring
Between now and the end of 2027, we are building teams across the following areas. Specific responsibilities will differ by role and level.
- Construction, engineering & asset management: construction and project managers, contracts managers, quantity surveyors, clerks of works, civil and renewable energy engineers, environmental health & safety, procurement and buying.
- Energy trading, origination & commercial: energy analysts, settlements and forecasting specialists, SAWEM and SAPP trading, commercial sales and origination, channel partner and customer engagement, stakeholder management, contracts administration and back-office support.
- Technology, data & product: technology, platform, data engineering and machine learning / data science leads, full-stack and front-end engineers, BI developers and analysts, data scientists and product managers.
- Project finance, development & finance: financial close analysts and managers, IPP and GPPA procurement, financial accountants and accountants.

- People & corporate services: talent management, people and HR generalist roles, and business support.
- Graduate & early career: graduate engineers, graduate analysts, graduate procurement and junior quantity surveyors.
If your discipline is not listed here but you believe you could contribute to what we are building, we would still like to hear from you.
What we look for
Qualifications and experience
- A relevant tertiary qualification for your discipline: engineering, commerce, finance, accounting, law, computer science or data science, environmental science, or similar — or a technical / trade qualification supported by equivalent demonstrable experience.
- Professional registration or accreditation where your discipline requires it (for example ECSA, SACQSP, SAICA, or admission as an attorney). Additional certifications relevant to your field are welcomed.
- We hire across all levels, from graduate through to executive leadership. For graduate and early-career applicants, a completed degree or final-year study toward one is what we need to see.
- Experience in renewable energy, power, utilities, infrastructure or energy trading is an advantage — but it is not a prerequisite. Many of our strongest team members joined us from adjacent sectors and industries.
- A track record of delivery in complex, fast-moving or ambiguous environments, ideally in a high-growth, scale-up or greenfield build context.
- Exposure to the South African energy regulatory and market landscape (NERSA, Eskom, municipal offtake, wheeling, SAWEM) is highly valuable for a number of our roles.
- Evidence that you have built or improved something — a system, a process, a team, an asset — rather than only maintained it.
How we work
Our values are not wall art. They are how we make decisions, and they are what we assess against. The people who do their best work at NOA tend to recognise themselves in the following:
- Problem solver: you lean into complex problems, take the time to understand them properly, and find original solutions. Uncertainty does not deter you.
- Continuous improver: you get to the best answer through speed and iteration, testing solutions against reality quickly rather than perfecting them in isolation.
- Thinks and acts big: you are not interested in playing small. You want to move the needle and make a significant, visible impact.
- All-in: you bring your full self to your work and commit to whatever the situation requires.
- Steps forward: you contribute beyond the boundaries of your role and own the changes you believe are needed, without waiting to be asked.
- Speaks simply and truthfully: you are honest and direct, you do not shy away from difficult conversations, and you remain supportive of your colleagues throughout.
- Savours the journey: you take pleasure in incremental progress, client wins and the people you work with, and you make time to celebrate what the team achieves.
- Builds performance connections: you believe genuine collaboration produces results greater than the sum of individual parts, and you invest in the relationships that make that possible.
Skills that travel across our roles
Whatever your discipline, these are the capabilities that matter most across our business:
- Deep, credible expertise in your own field, with the confidence to be the person others rely on in that area.
- The ability to turn complexity into clarity; explaining technical, commercial or regulatory detail simply to people who are not specialists in it.
- Strong analytical and data literacy, and comfort making decisions with incomplete information.
- Commercial awareness; an understanding of how your work connects to cost, risk, revenue and delivery timelines.
- Proficiency with the tools and systems of your field, and a willingness to adopt and improve new ones.
- The ability to work effectively in a hybrid team across our Cape Town and Johannesburg offices.
