Our client is an internationally recognised manufacturer of innovative electronic security solutions, supplying advanced technologies to commercial, industrial and high-risk sectors across global markets.
As part of its continued growth strategy, the business is seeking a commercially driven Business Development Executive to expand its presence throughout South Africa.
This is a hands-on, customer-facing role responsible for developing new business opportunities, strengthening channel partnerships and driving sustainable sales growth. Working closely with distributors, installers, systems integrators and end users, the successful candidate will play a key role in increasing market penetration while acting as the local commercial representative for an established international organisation.
The Role
The Business Development Executive will be responsible for driving profitable growth across South Africa by developing new customer relationships, supporting existing channel partners and identifying new routes to market.
The position combines strategic business development with technical sales support and commercial account management, requiring an individual who is equally comfortable engaging with senior decision-makers and supporting partners throughout the sales process.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Market Growth
- Develop and implement a business development strategy focused on long-term, sustainable revenue growth across South Africa.
- Identify, qualify and develop opportunities with distributors, installers, systems integrators, guarding companies, monitoring providers and end-user organisations.
- Build strong relationships with decision-makers across security, loss prevention, operations, facilities management, maintenance and risk management functions.
- Grow existing partner relationships whilst actively identifying and securing new business opportunities.
- Build and maintain a healthy sales pipeline with clear actions, realistic forecasting and accurate reporting.
- Promote the company's portfolio of electronic security solutions and value-added technologies.
- Identify opportunities across retail, banking, logistics, warehousing, commercial property, utilities, infrastructure and other high-security environments.
- Represent the business at customer meetings, demonstrations, training sessions, exhibitions and industry networking events.
Channel Partner Development & Technical Support
- Strengthen distributor and installer capability through ongoing commercial support and product education.
- Increase partner confidence in presenting, specifying and selling the company's solutions.
- Support channel partners with site assessments, solution selection, quotations, demonstrations and customer presentations.
- Provide technical guidance during the sales process, ensuring solutions meet customer requirements.
- Help partners understand how products integrate within wider electronic security systems and infrastructure.
- Act as the primary point of contact between South African partners and the international technical and commercial teams.
- Develop a strong understanding of the company's product portfolio and associated technologies.
- Clearly explain technical concepts to installers, systems integrators and end users.
- Maintain a sound understanding of electronic security principles, including alarm systems, CCTV, monitoring technologies, signalling and integrated security solutions.
- Support demonstrations, introductory technical training and pre-sales discussions where required.
- Escalate technical queries appropriately, ensuring complete and accurate customer information is communicated.
- Provide regular market feedback covering product performance, competitor activity, customer requirements and future opportunities.
Commercial Operations & Supply Chain Support
- Work closely with internal teams, distributors and logistics partners to ensure customer expectations are met.
- Support stock planning, product availability and demand forecasting across the territory.
- Develop an understanding of importing technical products into South Africa, including customs procedures, duties, compliance requirements and lead times.
- Help partners plan inventory requirements to minimise stock shortages and maximise customer service levels.
- Communicate effectively regarding orders, deliveries, returns and commercial commitments.
Reporting & Performance Management
- Maintain accurate CRM records covering customer activity, opportunities and partner engagement.
- Produce regular reports on pipeline development, key accounts, sales activity, risks and market intelligence.
- Track agreed KPIs including partner meetings, demonstrations, qualified opportunities, sales conversion and revenue performance.
- Maintain regular communication with international colleagues, identifying issues early and recommending practical solutions.
Skills & Experience
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Proven experience within business development, territory sales, channel sales or account management.
- Experience within electronic security, fire & security, CCTV, intruder alarms, monitoring solutions, access control, guarding services, facilities management, loss prevention or a comparable technical B2B environment.
- Experience working with distributors, installers, systems integrators or channel partners.
- The ability to sell technical products and solutions to commercial, operational and technical stakeholders.
- Strong relationship-building skills with the confidence to engage senior decision-makers.
- A proven track record of managing a sales pipeline and achieving commercial targets.
- Strong commercial judgement with the ability to qualify opportunities and prioritise activities that will generate results.
- Experience working with international suppliers, manufacturers or import/export businesses would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of shipping processes, customs requirements, stock planning and distributor supply chains would be beneficial.
Technical Capability
Whilst this is not an engineering role, the successful candidate will possess sufficient technical credibility to confidently engage with customers and channel partners.
You will be comfortable learning how electronic security technologies operate, how they integrate with wider security systems and how connected devices communicate with software platforms.
You should be capable of discussing technical applications with installers and systems integrators while recognising when specialist support is required.
A practical, hands-on approach is essential, with the confidence to attend customer sites, support demonstrations and recommend appropriate solutions.

- Existing relationships within the South African electronic security market.
- Experience selling into retail, banking, logistics, warehousing, infrastructure or commercial property sectors.
- Knowledge of electronic security systems, monitoring technologies, alarm receiving centres or connected security solutions.
- Experience selling recurring revenue services, managed technology solutions, service contracts or conducting product demonstrations and installer training.
- Experience working with international manufacturers or global technology businesses.
- A strong understanding of the South African security market, customer buying behaviour and route-to-market dynamics.

Location & Travel
This position is based in Johannesburg West / Roodepoort and requires regular travel to customers, distributors, installers and industry events throughout South Africa. Occasional travel to Cape Town is required, with occasional international travel also forming part of the role.
The successful candidate will work closely with international sales, technical, operations and marketing teams to support continued business growth and customer success.
