Job Description - E-commerce Sales & Marketplace Specialist

A fast-growing ICT company, specialising in both hardware and software distribution, delivers innovative solutions that boost business efficiency for a wide range of B2B clients across various sectors. In addition to their B2B focus, they maintain a strong and active presence in the online retail space through their own e-commerce store and leading online marketplaces.

They are looking for a dynamic and well-organised E-commerce Sales & Marketplace Specialist​ to join their team full-time in a permanent role. This individual will be responsible for managing and expanding their online sales channels, working closely with multiple departments. The role will focus on enhancing and growing the company’s e-commerce and marketplace presence, ensuring a seamless customer journey, optimising performance, and uncovering new opportunities to drive revenue growth.


Key Responsibilities:

E-commerce Store Management:
  • Manage and optimise product listings, descriptions, pricing, and images across their e-commerce platform (Shopify).
  • Update price promotions, email newsletter and landing page weekly.
  • Monitor website performance metrics: traffic, conversion rates, bounce rates.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (marketing, sales, support, warehouse) to ensure accurate and timely information.
  • Resolve technical or operational e-commerce issues via relevant technical or platform support.
Client Service:
  • Handle all B2C sales-related inquiries from the website promptly via email, chat, or phone.
  • Address order-related issues, returns, and customer complaints with a solutions-oriented approach.
  • Maintain a high standard of service to drive retention and loyalty.
Marketplace Management (Takealot, Amazon, etc.):
  • Ensure consistent and accurate product listings across all online marketplaces.
  • Identify new marketplace opportunities for our products to increase online presence.
  • Manage promotional opportunities and coordinate participation in promotion campaigns.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with account managers from each platform.
  • Monitor and respond to customer reviews and queries on marketplaces.
  • Resolve listing errors, delistings, and logistics issues quickly.
Sales & Performance Tracking:
  • Track sales performance, order volume, and revenue across platforms.
  • Prepare weekly performance reports including KPIs like conversion rates, return rates, and top-selling SKUs.
  • Identify and propose new opportunities for sales growth and operational efficiency.
  • Spot and mitigate potential risks (e.g., stockouts, poor reviews, platform policy changes).
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Stay up to date with e-commerce and marketplace trends in South Africa.
  • Contribute ideas for marketing campaigns or site improvements to increase traffic and conversions.
  • Monitor competitor activity and pricing to inform strategy.


Requirements

  • Relevant Degree or Diploma in Business, Marketing or Project Management.
  • 2+ years' experience in e-commerce operations, digital sales, or online marketplace management would be an advantage.
  • Hands-on experience with platforms like Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento or similar.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong organisation skills and ability to work on multiple tasks at the same time.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Ability to adapt quickly and work in a fast-paced, growing business environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Canva, or similar design tools.
  • Customer service experience and a passion for delivering great customer journeys would be a plus.
  • Familiarity with Takealot Seller Portal, Amazon Seller Central, etc would be a plus.


Benefits

  • This position will be full-time on-site during the probation period of 3 months in Bryanston, Johannesburg, and thereafter hybrid work model.
