Lead Analyst: BESS and Hybrid

Envusa Energy, a joint venture between Anglo American and EDF Renewables, delivers large-scale hybrid renewable energy solutions across Southern Africa. As the company scales, we’re looking for a Lead Analyst: BESS and Hybrids to drive energy modeling, team leadership, and techno-economic analysis for advanced renewable energy systems.

As Lead Analyst: BESS and Hybrids, you will lead a high-performing team of energy analysts and engineers focused on battery energy storage systems (BESS) and hybrid renewable energy projects. You’ll be at the forefront of energy optimization, project valuation, and cross-functional collaboration—ensuring alignment across technical, legal, and financial teams while delivering high-quality technical and commercial models.

  Lead and manage a team of hybrid energy analysts and engineers

  Oversee modeling, analysis, and optimization of BESS and hybrid projects

  Provide strategic input on project development, origination, and closing phases

  Ensure compliance with technical standards, dispatch rules, and market requirements

  Drive innovation in modeling tools and methodologies (LCOS, LCOE, optimization models)

  
  


• 
  

  Support project bids, procurement, due diligence, and contractor evaluations

  
  


• 
  

  Collaborate with implementation and asset management teams on performance analytics

  Represent EDF and Envusa in technical forums, stakeholder engagements, and regulatory discussions

  
  


• 
  

  Lead transversal coordination across departments to centralize BESS/Hybrid knowledge and processes

Minimum Requirements:

• 
  

  Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science (BSc, BTech, or equivalent)

  
  


• 
  

  8+ years’ experience in the renewable energy industry, especially in BESS or hybrid systems

  
  


• 
  

  Proficiency in Python for modeling and data analysis

  
  


• 
  

  Experience with tools like HOMER, PLEXOS, PyPSA, or custom optimization software

  
  


• 
  

  Strong understanding of financial modeling, dispatch strategy, and energy market dynamics

  
  


• 
  

  Proven leadership skills with experience managing cross-functional teams

  
  


• 
  

  Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

  
  

Preferred Qualifications:

  Master’s or PhD in Engineering, Renewable Energy, or Data Science

  Experience in power market design, ancillary services, or merchant energy modeling
