Paraplanner

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Paraplanner to support the financial adviser in delivering high-quality, compliant financial planning advice to clients. The successful candidate will play a key role in research, report writing, and technical support, ensuring advice is accurate, suitable, and aligned with FCA requirements.

This role would suit an experienced paraplanner or a developing paraplanner working towards (or holding) a Level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed technical research across pensions, investments, protection, tax planning, and estate planning, ideally with familiarity of the following systems - Defaqto Engage, Intelligent Office Intelliflo, investment platforms and Trustnet.
• Prepare suitability reports and financial planning recommendations for adviser review – majority of assistance will be in relation to annual client reviews.
• Analyse client information, objectives, and attitude to risk.
• Assist advisers in the construction and review of investment portfolios.
• Liaise with product providers, platforms, and discretionary fund managers.
• Ensure all documentation meets FCA regulatory and compliance standards.
• Support advisers with pre- and post-meeting preparation.
• Keep up to date with changes in legislation, taxation, and financial products.
• Maintain accurate client records and contribute to efficient workflows.

Essential:

• Experience in a paraplanning or technical financial services role.
• Strong knowledge of UK financial planning and FCA regulation.
• Good written communication and report-writing skills.
• High attention to detail and strong analytical ability.
• Confident using financial planning software and platforms.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Desirable:

• Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning (Level 4) or working towards OR CII Level 4 Certificate in Paraplanning – this includes:
  - (R01) Financial services, regulation and ethics, or (CF1) UK financial services regulations and ethics.
  - (R02) Investment principles and risk.
  - (R03) Personal taxation.
  - (J09) Paraplanning.
• Experience with tools such as , Defaqto Engage, Intelligent Office, or similar.
• Knowledge of pensions (including drawdown), investments, and tax planning.
• Previous experience in an IFA or wealth management firm.
