Personal Tax Compliance Officer

A well-established financial services firm is seeking a Personal / Individual Tax Compliance Officer to join its tax and accounting service team. This role provides individual income tax and related tax compliance support to Trust Officers (Financial / Investment Advisors) across the business.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years’ experience in individual income tax, with a proven track record in this field. The role requires a detail-oriented, organised professional with strong technical personal tax knowledge and the ability to work independently. Permanent, preferably full-time in-office but open to hybrid. R42 000 - R45 000 for full-time or pro-rata for reduced hours. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Completion and submission of individual income tax returns to SARS, including calculation and execution of tax payments
  

• Timely and accurate data capture on tax management systems
  

• Reviewing tax assessments and following up on any discrepancies
  

• Lodging objections to incorrect assessments and handling related SARS queries, including the preparation of all supporting documentation
  

• Coordinating payments and processing client refunds from SARS
  

• Liaising with internal and external clients, as well as relevant support departments
  

• Providing timely responses to client queries and ensuring effective resolution
  

• Offering regular feedback and updates to clients and internal teams regarding the progress and finalisation of matters
  

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar tax compliance role
  
• Solid experience in individual income tax, including for provisional taxpayers
  
• Intermediate computer literacy, particularly MS Office and Excel
  
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  
• Ability to work independently and manage deadlines effectively
  
• Clean credit and criminal record
  
• Valid, unendorsed driver’s licence and own vehicle required
