Job Description
An exciting opportunity exists for a Risk Analyst to take the next step in their career within the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) team in OML Group Risk. This Cape Town–based Line 2 role reports to a Senior Risk Officer and offers exposure to enterprise-wide risk management, senior stakeholders and Board-level governance. The role is specifically suited to a candidate with strong understanding of risk and control requirements, including assurance work.Key Result Areas
Delivery of Services
Ensures that risk management processes (identify, measure, respond, monitor and report risk) are implemented at business unit level.
Provides support to business unit management in carrying out risk-related responsibilities and influence risk-based decision making
Provides support & assistance to management across the value chain to embed risk management.
Customer
Supports the operational management across the Institutional value chain;
Participate and facilitate risk and control workshops;
Build relationships with operational management across the Institutional value chain;
Assists with challenging line 1 on the risk and control environment; and
Builds and maintains relationships with risk owners, risk events owners and control owners.
Operations
Contribute to reports by consolidating and analyzing information and highlighting potential risks.
Ensure governance and compliance standards are met by recording risk assessment outcomes on system for future reference.
Highlight system and work obstacles to management by reporting and escalating operational problems and by ensuring maintenance and/or improvement of service delivery to stakeholders
Centre of Excellence Activities
Contribute to one or more ERM Centre of Excellence initiatives, including operational risk management activities.
Participate in risk deep-dives and thematic reviews.
Requirements: Skills, Qualifications, Experience required
Related tertiary qualification in risk / internal audit or related area.
1 – 3 years’ relevant experience in Financial Services.
Understanding and appreciation of Risk Management Methodology and Tools is mandatory.
Internal Control design and assessment experience is mandatory.
Stakeholder management experience at a middle management level would be advantageous.
Life Insurance experience would be advantageous.
The ability to perform under pressure, related to both time and consequence.
The ability to interact and work with different teams across a diverse front.
Strong forward-thinking and analytical skills.
Pragmatic and numerate.
Logical thought processes and critical thinking skills.
