Corporate Finance Associate

LOCATION: Cape Town

SALARY AND BENEFITS: R600000 – R950 000 p/a

DESCRIPTION / SYNOPSIS:

Our client is a Boutique Commodities and Investments Business, situated in the heart of Cape Town. As a Senior Associate in theBusiness Developmentteam, you will play a central role insupporting both our organic and inorganic growth initiatives with a focus on financial analysis and commercial insights. You will have direct exposure to the executive team to provide advice to support our company’s decision-making. This individual needs to be a quick learner and be very strong when it comes to Excel and financial modeling and preferably have experience within a ‘Deals or Projects’ space.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• 2-3 years of experience in corporate finance, M&A,private equityor business development


• Prior experience within the Metals & Mining sectors


• OR


• Commodity Trading sector experience will be advantageous


• Relevant degree / Honours degree/ studying towards CFA

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Review financials and budgets to determine risks and create forecasts


• Perform transaction execution specific responsibilities:
  • Generally helping with designing, organising and projectmanaging M&A process
  • Supporting due diligence and deal documentation
  
  
  
  
  • Regularly liaising with relevant counterparts / other advisers
  
  
  
  


• Support in the preparation of fund-raising materials


• Perform a great variety of tasks, including many opportunities to ‘step-up’ given the team’s high deal flow and its flat hierarchical structure

SOFT SKILLS:

• Strong interest, focus and understanding of M&A processes


• Desire to work in an entrepreneurial environment and have exposure to many different types of transactions


• Excellent communication and project management skills


• Ability to effectively organise and drive work streams


• Proficient technical ability and overall corporate finance proficiency


• Ability to show initiative and support across several transactions in parallel, managing time appropriately across competing demands
