About Engage Video Group


Engage Video Group is a technology-driven social media video business combining data and creativity to create content people really care about. We have worked with global corporations such as Unilever and NESTLÉ to produce the most engaging, shareable content for some of the world’s largest brands, and have built and own the largest food and recipe social media platform in Africa, Foodies of SA. 


At the end of 2022, we embarked on a new journey exploring the possibilities outside of food. We wanted to see if we could utilise our unique tech stack for brands in different categories - and yes, we absolutely can! We focus on unlocking the power of the creator economy on social platforms to drive high-impact brand messaging. To date, we have worked with clients like Philips, Simba, Vaseline, HomeChoice, Takealot, and Mr D - with plenty more on the horizon.

We believe the advertising industry has a problem: people hate ads. This is why ad-centric content is polluting our social feeds and leading to customer mistrust. By tapping into audience data and testing our content against this audience in real time, we’re able to create optimised content around topics customers really care about, in the format they love to watch.

Role Summary


The Senior Content Strategist is responsible for leading the development of insight-led, platform-first content strategies for food and FMCG brands. This role combines strategic leadership, creator sourcing support, performance reporting, and case study contribution,  with a strong emphasis on food culture, recipe-led content, and impactful storytelling.


This individual brings prior management experience and plays both a strategic and mentorship role within the team. They understand how food content lives in culture,  from everyday meal solutions to indulgent treat moments, and how to translate that into campaigns that drive measurable brand impact.


Key Responsibilities


1. Campaign Strategy & Strategic Leadership 



  • Lead the development of creator content strategies, ensuring alignment to business objectives and platform behaviour.

  • Translate client briefs into actionable messaging frameworks and recipe- or product-led storytelling approaches.

  • Identify food trends, cultural moments, and consumption behaviours that unlock strategic opportunity.

  • Ensure brand messaging is delivered clearly within average watch times and platform norms.

  • Guide cross-functional team members in strategic thinking and output quality.


2. Creator Sourcing Support



  • Contribute to building and maintaining a strong creator network.

  • Provide strategic input into creator selection 

  • Development of creator briefs to ensure message  integration that feels natural and compelling.


3. Reporting & Performance Analysis



  • Track and interpret campaign performance across metrics including watch time, saves, shares and  engagement.

  • Translate data into meaningful insights

  • Identify content optimization opportunities

  • Contribute strategic commentary to reporting decks.

  • Ensure key learnings from campaigns are captured and applied to future strategy.


4. Case Study Development



  • Support the creation of compelling, insight-led case studies


5. Team Leadership & Collaboration



  • Mentor and support teammates , ensuring quality and consistency of output.

  • Act as a senior strategic voice in internal discussions and client interactions.

  • Ensure strong communication between strategy, creative, and data  teams.



Skills & Competencies



  • Strong strategic thinking with the ability to balance creativity and commercial impact.

  • Deep understanding of food culture, recipe content behaviour, and FMCG purchasing drivers.

  • Experience managing or mentoring team members.

  • Confident in interpreting campaign data and extracting meaningful insights.

  • Strong storytelling ability, both in content direction and reporting narrative.

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong understanding of social platforms (TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Meta ecosystems).



Experience & Qualifications



  • 4–7 years experience in content strategy, digital marketing, influencer marketing, or FMCG brand strategy.

  • Experience working on food, beverage, or FMCG brands.

  • Prior team management or mentorship experience.

  • Experience contributing to campaign reporting and case studies.

  • Relevant qualification in Marketing, Communications, Media, or similar

  • Quality and clarity of strategic outputs.

  • Campaign performance uplift (watch time, message landed, engagement) 

  • Effectiveness of creator alignment and integration.

  • Strength and clarity of reporting insights.

  • Compelling, commercially relevant case studies.

  • Positive feedback from internal teams and clients.

  • Growth and development of junior team members.
