Role Purpose:
The Senior Delegated Authority Specialist will be the operational anchor for the Delegated Authority (DA) function, ensuring the seamless, compliant, and efficient Business as Usual (BAU) management of the Binding Authorities portfolio.
This senior role is critical for executing daily DA controls and processes, thereby freeing the Head of Delegated Authority Management to focus on strategic initiatives, governance, training, and process improvement across the business.
Role Responsibilities
1.BAU Delegated Authority Oversight (Core Focus)
Take day-to-day ownership of the operational lifecycle of all Binding Authority agreements (Binders), focusing on the execution of agreed-upon controls.
Collaborate with teams across BDX, Claims, Compliance and Credit Risk to ensure smooth financial and processing management for all facilities.
Ensure all delegated arrangements adhere to the established delegations and controls framework within the Lloyd's market and Managing Agency standards.
Monitor and track Coverholder performance against contractual obligations and pre-agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
Proactively manage renewal reminders and ensure timey follow up.
Preparation, drafting, and interpretation of binding authority agreements and endorsements
2.Technical Expertise and Compliance
Function as the primary senior contact for all BAU technical queries related to Binders, data validation, and processing from internal stakeholders (Underwriting, Finance, Claims).
Maintain expert knowledge of the various Binder types and their specific reporting and regulatory requirements, ensuring operational compliance with Lloyd's Oversight Regime.
Use your deep understanding of the role and responsibilities of a broker—both in and out of the Lloyd's market—to resolve technical placement and reporting discrepancies.
3.Support and Leadership
Assist in the training and mentoring of junior team members on daily DA processes and best practice execution.
Provide high-quality BAU input and analysis to the Head of DA Management, flagging potential control breaches or systemic operational issues.
Serve as the key resource for collating and preparing operational performance data for regular reporting to the Executive and Regulatory bodies.
Skills & Experience:
Essential:
Senior Experience: Significant, demonstrable experience (typically 5+ years) in a dedicated Delegated Authority role within the Lloyd's of London insurance market.
Binder Fluency:Expert-level knowledge of the full lifecycle of a Binding Authority, including delegation mechanics, risk/premium flow, and reporting requirements.
Lloyd's Controls: Strong practical understanding of the controls, governance, and regulatory landscape within a Lloyd's Managing Agency.
Autonomy: Proven ability to work autonomously, manage a high-volume workload, and prioritise tasks effectively to maintain BAU efficiency.
Desirable:
Specialty insurance lines, ideally including current market conditions.
Strong skills in MS Windows applications – particularly Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
French speaking.
