Job Title: Senior Full Stack Software Developer

The senior developer is responsible for the design, development and maintenance of new and existing procurement and finance related products, delivered on Microsoft Azure hosted platforms. You will own significant parts of the product, set the technical direction of the work you lead, and lift the standard of the code around you. We are looking for a self-directed engineer who works well in a highly collaborative agile team environment.

Broad Outline of Duties:

• Own the design and delivery of high quality, scalable components across the stack, from requirement to production


• Adhere to the full software development cycle including requirements gathering, design, coding, code repository management, QA, deployment and code reviews


• Set and hold the bar for best practice and secure coding standards in the team


• Use AI coding assistants as part of normal delivery, and apply the same review, test and security standards to AI generated code as to code you write yourself


• Select and apply appropriate design patterns and frameworks, and explain the trade-offs


• Maintain and improve existing applications, including work on legacy code


• Participate in and support of SCRUM and Agile project practices.


• Review the code of other developers and mentor less experienced team members


• Break large pieces of work into deliverable parts and help the team size them


• This role will report into our Cape Town Software Development Manager


• Flexible working hours, with late afternoon availability required, when we overlap with our USA offices. Willingness to work or be available overtime and / or weekends if required

Education/training: IT degree or diploma, and/or relevant equivalent experience. General computer skills including MS Office and advanced Excel; Microsoft Azure knowledge advantageous.

Level of experience:

• 5+ years of experience in software application development, SaaS applications preferred


• C#, .NET Framework and .NET Core


• Microsoft SQL Server, Entity Framework, good SQL / relational database capability.


• HTML, CSS, Bootstrap


• JavaScript libraries and frameworks, jQuery, JSON


• Web services and APIs, REST, OData


• Azure DevOps, Git


• Experience with scrum or agile methodologies


• A record of taking a feature from design to production with little supervision
  

Advantageous experience:

• Developing cloud-native applications


• Microsoft Azure technologies


• Writing or integrating with accounting, ERP, or financial software


• Web application security concepts and implementation


• Data analysis and query experience — reporting, dashboards, data mining, AI


• Good working knowledge of design patterns


• Agile environment experience


• Experience in a small or mid-sized product engineering team


• Experience reviewing code and mentoring other developers
