Senior Projects Manager (Electrical Transmission & Distribution within Renewables

About the Role

Our client, a leading player in the renewable energy sector, is looking for a Senior Projects Manager with a strong technical background and proven experience in electrical reticulation—including Medium Voltage (MV), High Voltage (HV), and Low Voltage (LV) systems, Eskom connections, and distribution & transmission line projects.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for the successful delivery of large-scale renewable energy projects from planning through to grid connection, ensuring compliance with Eskom, NERSA, and other relevant authorities.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the end-to-end management of renewable energy projects (Solar, Wind, Hybrid), with a focus on grid integration and reticulation infrastructure
  

• Manage MV, HV, and LV electrical design, construction, and commissioning
  

• Ensure compliance with Eskom, municipal and other utility provider standards
  

• Liaise with Eskom for grid code compliance, permitting, and power purchase agreements (PPA)
  

• Lead project teams and contractors, ensuring delivery within scope, budget, and schedule
  

• Develop project timelines, track milestones, and manage risks proactively
  

• Coordinate with engineering, procurement, environmental and legal teams
  

• Provide regular progress reports to senior stakeholders
  

• Ensure SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environmental & Quality) standards are maintained on-site
  

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Project Management, or related field
  

• Minimum 8–10 years' project management experience in electrical infrastructure or renewable energy projects
  

• Proven experience working with MV, HV lines, Eskom connections, substations, transformers, and reticulation systems
  

• Knowledge of NERSA, Grid Code, SSEG, and municipal technical requirements
  

• PMP or PRINCE2 certification would be an advantage
  

• Exceptional leadership, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
  

• Willingness to travel to remote project locations across South Africa
